The exhibition "Looks Can Be Deceiving: Frida Kahlo dresses" is the first exhibition of the artist's wardrobe at the Museo Frida Kahlo, in Mexico City, Mexico. This exhibition presents a new interpretation of Frida through her wardrobe, which was discovered in 2004 in her bathroom.

The central premise of the exhibition explores the identity of the artist, expressed through the striking visual image constructed based her clothing. Much has been spoken of love as the driving force and political convictions of Frida as leverage to wear ethnic clothing. This exhibit offers tradition and her physical disabilities as two new components that fed the painter's decision to wear traditional clothing. The style of Frida has been inspiration for international designers such as Ricardo Tisci and Jean Paul Gaultier, who based his spring-summer 1998 collection titled Homage to Frida Kahlo on her style. The artist remains a source of inspiration for these designers, establishing a bridge between past and present.

Painter Frida Kahlo was a Mexican self-portrait artist married to Diego Rivera and is still admired as a feminist icon.
