Lori, congratulations for getting tagged on the Quilt Show. You are an amazing teacher and so generous with your knowledge. Those 12 steps should be reviewed by all quilters to remind them how far they have come in their journey as a quilter. Thanks

The list looks great! I do disagree with hand work of any kind being a necessary skill. Since I'm a musician, fingers are very important and they can get punctured much more easily with hand work than with machine sewing. Yet I have created award-winning quilts without using this skill.

Each quilter needs to know simple hand-sewing techniques. I consider knowledge on how to piece by and and how to needle-turn applique essential.

I love the idea of a notebook. I am going to start one for 2016. Thank you.

How about adding "enjoy your quilting and piecing and don't stress about how perfect it is or could be!" Carol

I have two more essentials to add to the list.
1. Basic understanding of fabric - grain (lengthwise, crosswise, bias)
2. Basic understanding of math to calculate and create the pieces you will need in a quilt.
