Which kind of quilter are you? Vote below.

Previously, we asked how you store your stash, what's on your design wall, how you quilt your quilts, how you baste your quilts, how you hang your quilts, and where you get your quilting ideas.

This week we want to know how you feel about your scissors. Are you, "I only use them to cut fabric; use them and die?" OR, "They're only scissors, who cares what you cut with them?"

I grew up in a household that had 1 pair of scissors (black handle, long blade) and they were used for everything. Mama used them to cut fabric for our clothes. She quilted and the same scissor that cut quilt patterns from ceral boxes also cut the fabric for the quilts. Also used to cut our hair, twine to tie up tomato plants in the garden. She had two rules about the scissors, don't run with them and don't lose them. I love my little yellow fiskars and I use them for everything even cutting hair.

I am left handed, so my scissors are sacred. I have left handed scissors for both fabric and paper and many other scissors such as embroidery, duckbill, etc which are not left handed, but all are not to be touched by hands other than mine. My husband learnt very early on what a wrong handed person could do to his very well honed butcher knives - so I don't touch his knives and he don't touch my scissors - and we live in a very happy world.

Oh, Ladybug!!!! I agree with the other commenters here.

I remember, as a child, mom admonishing "no paper, those are for fabric/material ". Of course, now and then there had to be a sneaky snip or two.

Now, I understand and have 'fabric only', but my kids have 4 paws, so the only hazard with them is the occasional swat to the floor!

Upon purchasing new scissors, I have ceremoniously introduced them to every member of the house, having a laying on of hands ceremony where they promise never to use the scissors for anything but fabric.

I have scissors that I use for fabric, others for paper, etc., but I don't reach the "use and die" level. They really are just scissors.

The first thing I did when I moved into the house with my husband was to buy him his own pair of lightweight Ginghers so he would never need to use my sewing scissors. The joke in our house is that if he sees me using his scissors, he says, "You're not cutting fabric with my scissors, are you?"

Ladybug3 that is funny

I have sewn fabric sleeves over my large scissors. No one will use them, the cutie fabric signifies my scissors.
I have several pair of scissors around the house for other uses. My sewing scissors stay in my sewing space

I have several pair that I reserve exclusively for cutting my fabrics. Those stay in their leather sheath except when I am not actually using them. Then, I have a bunch of other scissors in various places around the house which are fair game for anyone to use for any type of cutting. PLUS, I keep a couple pair still in their original packaging in my stash so we are never without sharp scissors. I was very lucky recently to find a brand new pair of Ghingers for only $1 at a garage sale. There is no such thing as too many scissors.

At one time I had some of my handgun ammunition in the same drawer as my sewing scissors. I was mending a duck hunting blind for my husband and a friend, when I opened the drawer he noticed the amunition and my husband informed him, no one touches her sissors.
