TQS guest artist, Cheryl Lynch took a trip to Israel and is sharing some of her marvelous photos with us. Cheryl went everywhere from Masada to Tel Aviv and even stopped to plant a tree along the way.  Cheryl is known for her striking tile-inspired quilts and you'll see some inspiration in these photos.

Cheryl is featured in Episode 811: Quilt a Fiesta with Tile-Inspired Quilts.

There were a numer of special exhibits at the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show this year.

The 2nd Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show - Small Wonders Challenge is one of their community partnerships to benefit the kids of Sisters, Oregon.  It’s a ‘little’ contest with six $100 prizes. All the quilts they received were considered for six prize categories.  They'll sell all the quilts and donate a portion of the proceeds to their Parks & Recreation program to help kids attend summer programs.

Here are just a few of those quilts that were gently swaying in the wind during the day of the show.

If you belong to Facebook, you can see more of the quilts here.

Have you visited WeAllSew lately?  It's a place where sewers, quilters, and crafters are celebrated and inspired by project ideas, patterns, and tips.  It is brought to you by BERNINA USA.

Here are just a few of their FREE projects: a mouthwatering Watermelon Table Runner by Erika Mulvenna, a Strips for Stripes tote by Renae Allen, and a Geometric Quilt Block Pillow also by Erika which lets large scale prints shine.

Self expression through sewing can be very satisfying.  In this age of uber electronics, many are finding that time spent crafting something tangible with their own two hands offers a connection that the 'connected world' cannot satisfy.  More...here

It had to happen one day.  For the first time in 37 years, the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show was "rained out."  Around 2pm, the skies opened up and the rain poured down.  Volunteers came out of the woodwork to help and business owners let them pile the quilts in their stores until they could be collected. Every single quilt was accounted for, some were a little damp, but all’s well that end’s well.

Unfortunately, the quilt show did lose about 3 hours worth of quilt sales and raffle tickets, money that is used to help pay for the show.  They are asking for help to make up the shortfall through memberships or donations to Sisters Quilt Show - Friends of the Show.

In the meantime, take a look at some of the preparation that goes into the show and catch glimpse of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show itself.
