Here is a wonderful exhibit.  You won't want to miss this if you are anywhere near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  You will want to see this interesting area and a great exhibit. Saturday is the last day, so make a special trip tomorrow.

Below, Rob Appell talks with Peg Weschke about the exhibit.  Later we will show some of the quilts and Peg will show us her special quilt about a special horse.

A newly engaged young woman, with a 12-karat ring!, is cause for a fashion show of 1940's evening gowns.  Just to show that there is nothing new in the fashion universe, you'll catch a glimpse of a bare midriff and even a "hoodie."  This must have been made some time after World War II as they mention "No skimping on fabrics this season."

Harumi made this quilt for ther granddaughter's birthday.  She was happy because her son had a girl and she had brought up boys.  Harumi drew the spool pattern and printed photos of her grandaughter which are included in the quilt along with her growth record.  Happy Birthday is machine pieced and hand appliqued and hand quilted.

This time we included two detail photos. Be sure to see the "Partial View" also.

Bob & Heather Purcell invited Alex and John to come see their operations in St George, Utah. Capt'n John brought the camera so that all of you could join them. Over the next weeks we will go throughout the warehouse and operations at this fun and innovative firm.

Come along today with Alex as Dr. Bob from Superior Threads shows her how bobbin "donuts" are made. It will certainly give you a better appreciation of what goes into making those luscious little spools of thread.  And the best part is, these donuts aren't fattening.

For more bobbin education, Bob has a great information section.  Take a look.

Time for more stash busting. Have leftover strips or leftover binding? How about a Jelly Roll or Honey Bun?  Here's a quick tutorial from Diary of a Quilter by Amy Smart for making a table runner that will use up those scraps in a flash.

Here's a bit of fun.  It's a 1967 Dior fashion show of hats.  Perhaps you'll gain some inspiration, or just have a giggle or two.  If you have one of these hats, or one like it, raise your hand.

Each year the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show accepts a small number of Special Exhibit quilts from groups or individuals from across the country and around the world.

Special Exhibit quilts are groups of quilts that have a common theme or other reason they would all look spectacular if hung together as a group.  Past special exhibits have included quilts inspired by a book, poem, word or phrase, a theme or fabric challenge or group projects such as a round robin.

An individual with a unique body of work could also be selected for a Special Exhibit.

Submissions will be accepted through September 2013 for the 2014 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show .  We will confirm acceptance of special exhibits by November 1.

Click here for form and guidelines with important information for your 2014 Special Exhibit submission.  You may return the form via email, or mail it to our office at 220 S. Ash Street #4, Sisters, OR 97759
