We noticed this quilt in the quilt gallery. Aretha has stitched the entire piece in thread on a black background. All of her work is done on her trusty Singer Sewing Machine. Her first love is drawing, but 8 years ago she met quilting professional, Carol Williams and went to a quilt showing by Carol--that did it. She was hooked.
We only have a few quilts to go to reach 20,000 in our Quilt Gallery. Remember that every Member can put up 12 quilts. They can be ones they have made or own or have inherited. If you haven't done it yet, just go to "My Account>My Profile" and upload the pictures. We love seeing them.
Leave it to the crafty and creative folks at Superior Threads to come up with a way to get thread and needles to you SUPER FAST!
"It was a natural step in our evolutionary process to adopt a quicker shipping method. Not only do you receive the highest-quality products and excellent customer service from Superior Threads, but now you can receive your packages even faster!"

The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts was created when a group of ladies from Ozaukee County, WI decided they wanted to capture the history of quilts so that it wouldn't be lost over time. This ambitious project grew over time and utlimately resulted in the Wisconson Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts.
The museum currently located in a wonderful Civil War Era farm in Cedarburg, WI, has documented over 8,000 quilts and counting. All of their work, including building the world-class museum, restoring the 19th Century Cedarburg Farm, obtaining the Joe and Mary Koval Collection and the James A. Their current exhibiton (January 10 - April 6, 2014) is Modern Perspectives featuring the work of

The winter Olympics are just around the corner and the theme for 2014 is based on a patchwork quilt.
At the heart of the Look of the Games concept design lies the principle of the "patchwork quilt" - a combination of 16 designs representing the most famous traditional Russian arts and crafts, ranging from Gzhel to Khokhloma. The Look of the Games concept is the visual embodiment of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games philosophy and is intended to express the character of modern Russia whilst at the same time introducing guests from all over the world to traditional Russian hospitality.
The quilt includes 16 designs representing the most famous traditional Russian arts and crafts: Uftyuzhskaya painting, Vologda lace, Gzhel and Zhostovo painting, Kubachi patterns, Pavlov Posad shawls, Mezenskaya painting and Khokhloma, Yakutsk patterns and Ivanovo chintz.
