The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts was created when a group of ladies from Ozaukee County, WI decided they wanted to capture the history of quilts so that it wouldn't be lost over time. This ambitious project grew over time and utlimately resulted in the Wisconson Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts.
The museum currently located in a wonderful Civil War Era farm in Cedarburg, WI, has documented over 8,000 quilts and counting. All of their work, including building the world-class museum, restoring the 19th Century Cedarburg Farm, obtaining the Joe and Mary Koval Collection and the James A. Taylor Coverlet Collection, and holding exhibitions and classes has been accomplished by the work of very dedicated volunteers.
Their current exhibiton (January 10 - April 6, 2014) is Modern Perspectives featuring the work of
- Weeks Ringle & Bill Kerr
- Joyce Melander Dayton
- Fiber Revolution’s Fragmentations
- Wisconsin Modern Quilts (Jan. 8 – Feb. 2)
- Denyse Schmidt (early February – April 6)
- Rod Buffington
