If you live on the West Coast and can't get to Washington D.C. to see the Behind the Scenes Lace/Quilt Tours mentioned in the January 19th Newsletter, maybe you can visit the Lace Museum and Guild in Sunnyvale, California.
Their mission is to preserve lace and the art of lace making, to exhibit lace and its historical use, and to offer instruction in all facets of lace making. The museum is a non-profit organization and is one of two museums in the United States devoted solely to its art. The Lace Museum provides on-going lace making classes and is staffed entirely by volunteers.
A new exhibit, "Night and Day - Lacey Lingerie and Sleepwear from 1860-1950" will be installed January 23, 2010. The exhibit will feature petticoats, hoops, corsets, corset covers, slips, night wear, bed jackets, teddies and more.
Admission is free.
