Wendy, recipient of the 2009 Jewel Pearce Patterson scholarship for quilting teachers, presents practical solutions for designing and implementing pieced borders, offers a wealth of tips for adding texture to a variety of quilt projects, and compares notes with Ricky about their simultaneous foray into quilting-with their respective dads! Here's her Artist's Statement: Awaken, Spring began the same way they all do, "you can't make that." I needed to prove I could. I could make it better, stronger, faster. I designed and rearranged much of this quilt to make it as original as i could. I hope y'all enjoy my version of reveille for Spring.

You'll find the magic of embroidered faeries in Judith Woodworth's whimsical quilt. This quilt was the winner of 2nd Place: Innovative, Wall, Pieced, Road to California 2013.
Artist's Statement:
I wanted to create a star where my fairies could live with windows into the real world. It has embroidered fairies that sprinkle fairy dust to grant wishes. The curved piecing star weaves over and under the star points. I used Legacy 80/20 batting plus wool batting, and mostly Glide thread.
