We want to know what you did that was a fun vacation.  In Livermore, California, USA we have a lot of boutique wineries that now rival the famous Napa Valley wines.  The tasting rooms offer a variety of samplings for free or a small fee.  Get a designated driver and make the tour.

Now it's your turn!  Tell us something fun to do near where you live.  Go to Show & Tell and upload your picture and tell us what's a vacation spot worth checking into.  You can even break the rules and show us a picture from a favorite past vacation that you want us to know about.

We are hoping our international members can show us special places near them.

We received the following letter.  What is your answer for Beth and the crew?

From:Beth North

Message:
My quilt guild was wondering what is the best way to do binding for sure. There are several ways out there and we want to know the best for show quality quilts. What are the judges looking for in quality binding?

Thank you.

Carolyn Reese (Road to California ) has made TQS an offer too good to be true! TQS will have its very own exhibit of member quilts at next year's show, which will be held January 14 - 17, 2010 at the Ontario Convention Center, Ontario, CA.

The exhibit, titled "A Twist On Tradition," will feature twenty original quilts based on traditional patterns or designs. We want to show the thousands of attendees how truly blessed we are with talent of our TQS members from around the globe. Don't miss this great opportunity to showcase your quilted work. Be sure to visit the American Folk Art Museum to see Paula Nadelstern's work.  She is a TQS favorite (see show 307) - and at the gallery you can see her incredible works in person! To learn more about the exhibit - go here. Wow - for a sneak peek - look what we found! HEY PAULA - Great job!!!! Let's give her a TQS shout out!  In Series 5, Paula gives TQS a special look at the show and the NY garment district.

Everybody has their story of coming home from class, workshop or a retreat and how they brought home their hot iron.  (Aluminum foil and a towel?  A big brown cardboard box?) Chances are you still burned your hands...or the car seat.  Well we found a product from JWD Publishing where you can leave with a hot iron when you want to leave.

It's the "Sole Cool Hot Iron Bag".  Throw your hot iron in it and you are good to go.  The bag traps the heat in and you can take your iron with you when you leave.  You can even use it at home and keep your iron in the bag on the shelf.  And did we mention that it is cute, too?!!  JWD has the pattern for two different sizes to make one of your own.

You can win one of six FREE Patterns. To enter, simply click here to send an email to coolbag@thequiltshow.com and put "Pick Me" in the subject line. Your entry needs to be in by Monday May 26, 2009 midnight PST.

To learn more about JWD patterns and where to buy them in your area, visit JWD Publishing here.

Dear TQSers,
What a great group you are! Thanks to all of you who sent comments, cards, books, handmade gifts and chocolate. I love you all. Since I got so much advice, here's some for you:
THINGS I HAVE LEARNED WHILE BROKEN
1. Patience is a virtue-especially for your caretaker.
2. Your nurses were right-elevate, elevate, elevate.
3. It is very hard to sew with your ankle higher than your head.
4. Trying to lose weight while inactive is a losing proposition.
5. Being an organized person is a big advantage when you can't walk around to find things. In fact, being organized is a big advantage even when you can get around.
6. As soon as you can't drive, you'll want to.
8. I love the "cruise control", no pedal sewing on my Bernina 830.
9. Drugs are a good thing. Wine is even better (and more fun).
10. Daytime TV sucks-reason #351 to belong to The Quilt Show!

Starting today, there are 648 days until we leave for our fantastic African safari. We want lots of TQS members to go - so we did the math. If you saved $10.50 a day for the next 648 days, you would pay for the trip. Seriously, that's a sandwich and a soda! Since many of us are looking for a good diet, why not try the "I wanna go to Africa diet?" Or, what about cutting your expensive daily cup of coffee and make it at home for MUCH less? Then of course, there is the, "I'll plan my errands so I can save gas" plan. What else can you do to save a few bucks? Let's go to AFRICA!!!

For details on this incredible tour with Sew Many Places - click here.

News flash - spots are filling! We're already one-quarter over or our goal and it's only been announced one week!
