Festivities start on Friday night before the Sisters show on Saturday.  The whole town gets in on the action.  Then they had me working on Saturday during the Quilt Show, but since it was my first trip to Sisters I got up early to see how it all came together.

Tomorrow we will give you a stroll through the quilts.

In 2001, Donna Sue Groves had a vision. She wished to honor her mother, Maxine, and her Appalachian heritage by having a painted quilt hung on her barn. This vision grew to a trail of 20 quilt barns in Adams County, Ohio.

Today barn quilts and trails have sprung up all across North America and on May 13-14, 2011, the barn quilt movement will be celebrating it's 10th Anniversary in Adams, CO. Donna Sue will be hosting a party, so save the date!

It's been a two weeks since the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and TQS thought you might need a little outdoor quilt show refreshment. There are many different exhibits every year at the show and this particular exhibit featured the quilts of Joanne Myers. Joanne is an institution in the Central Oregon quilting community and was selected as the Inspirational Instructor for the show. Joanne isn't afraid to tackle anything and you'll see that in her amazing range of quilt styles. The exhibit was sponsored by C&T Publishing Co.

Today's the day we celebrate Independence Day in America. TQS took a peek into the Quilt Gallery and came up with a few red, white, and blue beauties for your viewing pleasure. And remember, if you want additional information about a quilt, you can do a search from the HELP tab on the navigation bar on the name of the quilt or the member's name to find out more.

We'd like to hear from you around the world. Do you celebrate an Independence Day in your country? Do you celebrate a day of National pride? Share your celebrations with TQS by submitting a comment and let us know how your country get's its party on!

Ferret is an award-winning quilter from the UK. On May 1st, her birthday, we featured Ferret in a video. Well, a lot has happened since then. She took top prizes at both, Quilts UK Malvern 2010, and the National Quilt Championships Sandown 2010. At Malvern, her quilt Greek Fossils, took 1st place - longarm quilting, 2nd place - large wallhanging, and Judge's Choice.

Here's what she has to say about Greek Fossils: "It's a wholecloth on a piece of Heide Stoll-Weber hand dyed fabric. There are only two colours of thread on it, although the fabric makes it look like there are more. As always, the quilting is all hand guided. I marked the rough outlines of where I wanted the borders and the centre design to go, and filled the rest in freehand. It was initially made as a test piece to see if the feather technique looked any good, but my boyfriend convinced me that it was good enough to enter into shows."
