Show 1203 - Achieve "Stellar" Results with Precision Piecing

Featuring: Marsha McCloskey

Posts On: January 28, 2013

Trailer

Author and teacher Marsha McCloskey loves complex blocks, and brings a "suitcase" full of piecing techniques and tips to the International Museum of Folk Art (MOIFA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, our location for this "star-studded" episode. Along the way, Marsha demonstrates how to draft and piece a miniature Ohio Star block using her bias-strip-piecing method and shows how to stitch super-precise half-square-triangle units. She also reveals what she calls "stupid sewing," shares a great use for leftover blocks and scraps, and gets a big surprise from Alex. As an added bonus, Marsha C. Bol, director of the MOIFA, shares the history and vast collection of folk art items housed and displayed at our day's taping site.
