ICE Train to Amsterdam - This quilt is made entirely of Dutch Reproduction fabrics from Den Haan and Wagenmakers, Amsterdam the Netherlands. It is comprised of three simple, nine patch blocks. When the blocks are set together, a dramatic overall design emerges. I think it captures the look of Delft blue china perfectly.

Tropical Feathers - I was lucky to be able to go to AQS show in Paducah a couple of years ago and visited Carol Breyer Fallert's Studio. I was entranced by her fabrics and designs. This wall hanging is one of my favorites.

Tropical - Cut paper design for my daughter. Hand appliqued and machine quilted. Light coat of gold fabric paint on background once it was finished to add a little glimmer.

Tropical Sushi - This quilt was made for a TLC Quilters guild challenge. The palm trees have loose fronds & buttons for coconuts, fish & star buttons, all things tropical, even flip-flops!

Arizona Sunrise - A dear friend wanted a quilt depicting an Arizona Sunrise. I used an old technique of using color strips to make the sky and appliqued cactus by hand using the needle turn method. It was actually a very simple technique for such a dramatic effect.

Memories of Arizona - Machine appliqued. Montage of Arizona views based on vacation photos. Left - the view towards the mountains from Tucson; Center - Sedona; Right - Saguaro National Forest. Commercial batiks and my own hand dyed fabrics.

Tucson - This wall quilt is based on a photograph taken at the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ.

Touching Stars Memory Quilt - Contains fabrics from scrapbags of my maternal grandmother, mother, myself and my daughter. Inspired by a photo in a book on historic quilts of America.

Memory Quilt - While visiting my son & beautiful daughter-in-law in Japan I was approached by their neighbour & friend who showed me her silk obi she had worn on her girls day 55 years earlier & she asked how could she make it in to a quilt. I suggested several ideas. As she was not a quilter she asked if I would take on the project for her. The centre panel is the original obi unfolded & left completely as it came of the loom(woven by hand & all silk threads except for the gold threads very very heavy) I decided that the fabric was so outstanding on it's own it did not need any embellishing plus I could not bring my self to cut that unbelievable beautiful fabric. I then just added boarders made for simple silk Obi's. It now lies on her bed in pride of place instead of lying in a draw forgotten by all but Kimio. Cheers Glenda

In memory of Harriet and Pardon - The eagle block was drawn from the Civil War Veterans monument in our town. The quilt commemorates not only Harriet Tubman, but Pardon Davis, an abolitionist who was imprisoned in Louisiana for helping escaped slaves. This was the second project of our Civil War Club here at my shop.

Mountain Meadow

Over in the Meadow - I took the Spaghetti for a Crowd mystery quilt class taught by Mary Tendall Etherington and Connie Tesene from Country Threads. Silly me! I decided to make it a 100"x100" quilt. Do you know how many 6" blocks are in a quilt that size? There are 256 plus a pieced border.
