Autumn Glissando - Strip-pieced blocks, using gold lamme fabric; with applique silk leaves and cotton ferns (traced from my garden ferns.)

Completely Dotty - I was never interested in making a quilt with curved piecing until I saw this pattern. Once I started I wondered why I shied away from curves for so long. This is a fun pattern to make. It is from Piece O' Cake Designs and Becky Goldsmith had made it for her niece. It hangs in my family room and everyone remarks on it and loves it.

Golden Pear - The central pear started as a doodle in the Bernina Embroidery Software version 6 which I proceeded to digitize and embroider with my machine. Then I added more stitching detail including some couching and bobbin work, followed by free motion quilting and painting with Tsukineko pen work.

Friendship Garden - Made with the triangles from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Triangles exchange. Size is 89"x101". I modified Edyta's design to fit the size I wanted. The "golden" triangles are a pinwheel in the center, border to fit the size of the other blocks

Gold Rules - I made this quilt in response to a challenge for my fiber arts group The Explorers. The theme was Gold Rules. The flower was painted with white puff paint on white muslin, puffed and appliqued on my hand-painted fabric. I painted the flower and background with a dry brush technique using gold paint. The binding is sari fabric that a friend gave me.

Plaques and Tangles - Two stylized pictures of the brain with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) were printed on white fabric. They were cut in strips in varying widths similar to Ricky's demonstration quilt (can't find the episode) and then the fabric was alternated. Thread was used to create the different parts of the brain. Yellow for nerve cells; black for disease; gold for microglia - the cleaners in the brain; and silver for astrocytes. One large neuron shows the beginning of tangles within the cell while the black cell is a dead neuron. The clump of black rods outside of the cell is plaque. The tangles and plaques are proteins seen in AD. This quilt is for Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. Tip: once you have put the fast finish triangles on to hang the quilt - don't go back and do more thread painting......

Bouquet - I love "Fantasy Fabrics" by Bonnie Lynn McCaffrey. It is a fun and very forgiving technique. I used silk flowers on top of a hand-dyed background with a cream tulle over the top. It is quilted with a gold metallic thread.

Paisley Challenge - This was for a guild challenge to use a gray and gold paisley fabric (that was not very pretty). The finished quilt had to contain at least one Ohio Star. I had always wanted to do a Log Cabin Ohio Star layout and thought this was the perfect opportunity. At our monthly quild meeting in August 2008, 22 quilts were displayed and members voted in four categories. This quilt was selected as People's Choice. My first contest and first win! Even though it was a very small contest, I was very happy to have this quilt chosen for the top prize. This picture does not begin to show the fabulous quilting that really makes this quilt special.

Scrappy Fall Sampler - I had a thing for Samplers and bought several kits. This one actually got completed....almost...still doesn't have the binding finished but it got included on 'picture day'. Has Hobbs Heirloom wool batting & 1 piece back.

Blending the Bulging Blasted Blender Block - This teal, rust, golden quilt has one boarder that extends out on the side. The light part seems to bulge out forward.

Sun Over a Pyramid Play - Charlie chose to make her Pyramid quilt monochromatic. I can't think very well in gold and brown, so I left that to her. I love how it turned out! This is from my book Fun With One Block Quilts.

Dancing Tulips - Sheer fabric incorporating purple chenille and gold thread tulips (salvaged from a thrift store blouse) is fused over commercial cotton print. Butterflies are beads. Inner border of piping covered with same commercial cotton fabric. Border is commercial cotton twill, binding is another commercial cotton print. Finished April, 2007.

Starry Starry Night - I was inspited to make this wall hanging having seen many photos of quilts with stained glass windows. It is s Quilt as you go method starting off with 6" squares using the strip method. I zig zagged the squares together and then cut the shape of the winodw. I couched purples cord to make the windows and covered the window with organza and stiched in place. I used silver metallic thread to give a stary like sky.

Mardi Gras in the Twilight Zone - My bee stepped through an art quilt workbook. For some reason I got a "In the Twilight Zone" theme going. I forgot which technique this one was for, photography I think, but I used an old picture I had taken of myself in a mirror. It looks like I've been frightened. I printed out words and images from the opening of The Twilight Zone and worked them into the quilt. The backing of the piece is the silver inside of a snack cake bag! The image is actually printed on 2 separate pieces of sheer synthetic fabric. One is slightly smaller than the other to give a ghosting effect. I burned the edges of the photograph part. I think I'm a closet pyromaniac -ha! I had a lot of fun making this. It's one of my favourites.

Black & White - This quilt was made in response to a challenge on one of my lists. I gave the quilt to my friend Ginger as a housewarming gift.

Quilt for Corina - My sister Corina is not a quilter but she supports my "habit." She found a pattern she liked in a quilt shop in Silver City, NM. This year she heard that the local quilt store near her was closing so she purchased fabric to add to my stash. I used some of that fabric to make her this quilt.
