Me Moving
Name of Maker: Li Hertzi
Me Moving - I am writing a class on drawing the figure and I came across an artical about Constable who mostly drew nature and most passionately, water. He talks about life being movement, how when painting the ocean, each wave and trough is a memory - the shifting form of it making the artist REMEMBER the shapes. Now we have cameras to remember, but still, we, as artists, need to revel in our visual memory. So I took a movie (you gotta love the Macintosh with the built-in movie player) and tried to draw the movement as I swung my hair around. As you can imagine, this was pretty weird! This is what I got, and I stitched it... Do you get the feeling of moving?

My Sister Emily 1 - This is a thread painting of my sister who stood in the light and simply glowed! I did it last week and am not happy with the teeth or the eyes so I am going to do another, but I thought I might solicit your advice, Yes?

When Life Gives You Pneumonia, Make a Quilt
Name of Maker: Sandra Stephenson
When Life Gives You Pneumonia, Make a Quilt - This year I couldn't attend the Dallas Quilt Celebration with my sister Janice because I had pneumonia, so I consoled myself by making this bright wall hanging, trying to use up the small scraps of brights that I have. Bright colors=brighter mood.

Lonni Rossi
Name of Maker: Sandra Stephenson
Lonni Rossi - I love the graphic nature of Lonni Rossi's fabrics, and when I saw an article in Love of Quilting in which Rossi showed how to use panels of her fabric to make a wall hanging, I had to use some of my collection of her fabrics, mostly from the Typospheres collection.
Bright Flower Garden
Name of Maker: Sandra Stephenson
Bright Flower Garden - I decided to make a GFG, but not a traditional one; I used brights from my stash, purchasing only the green fabric for the background. The quilt is this size because these are all the bright prints that I had at the time. It is peaceful to sit and hand piece the octagons. Lona did a beautiful job quilting it freehand; there are bees in the corners and squiggly line between the flowers, like the flight patterns of the bees.
Black and White Flower Garden
Name of Maker: sstephen
Black and White Flower Garden - I swore I would never make a GFG because it required hand stitching, but this is the second one for me. It is made of black and white fabrics that I had been collecting.
