cotton-steel-poly
Name of Maker: Candy Prudhomme
Entry for Cotton+Steel challenge through NW Arkansas Modern Quilt Guild.  Our president brought back scraps from the Cotton+Steel booth at QuiltCon.  The only restriction was that we could only add more Cotton+Steel fabrics and/or solids.  I only had white and navy polyester that would coordinate with the fabrics I used.  Matchstick quilting includes lettering, "+ Poly."

a-woman-s-concept
Name of Maker: drblt
I  began this quilt last year in a one day class with Jacking Gering.  It is an original  design.  The title of the quilt is a play on the saying "Perfect symmetry is a man-made concept."

Name of Maker: carol randall
Finally finished my TQS BOM 2014 this week.
a-stitch-out-of-time
Name of Maker: Dorothy Wolf
This is the second applique quilt I have done. I couldn't find a pattern for this, so drew it myself after seeing one made from the pattern a friend's grandma made. I did trapunto on the ladies, and free motion quilting was done on my bernina 330. I have only been quilting for 2 years, so still have a lot to learn:)
Value Does the Work
Name of Maker: Susan Hilsenbeck
A group of us are working our way through Carolyn Friedlander's book "Savor Each Stitch". I made this study in contrast for the CONTRAST chapter. The design used a 9-step gradation from white to black (hand dyes from Caryl Bryer-Fallert-Gentry purchased years ago). The shades are arranged following a carefully planned and very regular grid layout. I am amazed at how different things look depending on what they are next to. In the end, I could not resist putting in a little splash of color (which of course gets all the credit even though it hardly did any work). Assembly was done using Caryl Bryer-Fallert-Gentry's applique piecing method. More details are here: http://susieturn.blogspot.com/2015/05/value-does-work.html

desert-sunrise-2
Name of Maker: BarbCA
"Desert Sunrise" inspired by the gorgeous sunrises at our desert home.
emu-selfie
Name of Maker: Judy Leathers
I'm trying thread painting. Emus are perfect for this with their wild hair-dos.
brandy-sue
Name of Maker: Sue Haney
It was a long wait until Light Steam-A-Seam 2 came back into production so I could make the larger version, 18" x 24", of this photograph.  I made an 8" x 10" practice piece over a year ago.  I am so happy to have this completed.  I think that when I do the next one of another of our dogs, I will make it not so simplified and use more fabrics.  But this was a good first project of this type.  Whew!
the-butterfly-quilt
Name of Maker: Duane Wiley
This was a very large quilt handle under my home machine.  I chose to make 2 halves and then sew together.  The quilting was all done freemotion on my home machine.  I decided to omit the bottom and top boarders of the pattern to keep it manageable.  The fabrics/colors were as close to the original design as I could get.  The machine quilting in the white spaces was the basket weave design.  This was a very challenging quilt!
to-serve-and-protect
Name of Maker: Judy Leathers Audrey Arno
A quilt honoring Military Service Dogs donated to Quilt Alliance for the "Animals We Love" contest/exhibition/auction. Audrey Arno pieced the background and I appliqued the German Shephard. It is the second of two quilts we made and donated to the cause. Voting by Quilt Alliance members starts Friday, May 22nd.
garden-party-2
Name of Maker: NA
This quilt started as a sketch.  I was inspired by my friend's picture of a southern lady in her finery and large hat.  I used a lot of Laura Wasilowski's hand dyed fabrics as well as beads and thread painting to embellish the scene.
bunny-love
Name of Maker: Dorothy Baker
I made this quilt trying to use up some fabrics that were leftover from another project.  The brights aren't my usual palette, so it was a bit of a challenge.  My daughter has told me this is her absolute favorite.
my-diary-quilt - front
Name of Maker: Heather V
This is one of the first quilts I started. It is a sampler quilt, guided by Mimi Dietrich's book, "Quilter's Diary in Stitches." The centers of the blocks are all hand pieced, but the setting triangles & quilt top assembly was done by machine. The quilting was done by a long arm quilter. It was first started in 2009, and finally quilted in 2014. The quilt also includes one antique quilt block, from a quilt made by my great-grandmother. This is the center white block in the top row of blocks.
oceans-of-love
Name of Maker: Heather V
This is a Storm at Sea setting, in an original coloring design (by me). It's symbolic of what it means to me to be a Christian, how only by loving one another and helping each other can we overcome hard times and get through the dark times of our lives, and that we can only do that by first receiving the love of Christ for us.  The quilt is 39" x 39", home machine pieced & home machine quilted.
it-s-a-new-day
Name of Maker: Georgia Andrews
"It's A New Day" Inspired by my morning serenaders in the Arbutus tree outside my bedroom window.  Measures 25" x 33" Background is pieced as per Missouri Star's instructional video for a Double Slice Layer Cake, the foreground is fused. Free-motion quilted in a swirl pattern. Bound in dark grey to match the silhouettes. My own design.
grammy-squares
Name of Maker: Lynn Wilder
What could be more fun than creating a quilt that looks like one of your Grandmother's crocheted afghans without ever picking up a crochet hook!  I love working with hexagons, and this design gave me lots of practice with hexagons and Y-seams.  I also love English paper piecing, so I included bouquets of flowers in two of the corners.  This quilt was a fabulous stash buster.  Also it was fun combining many different fabric, from reproduction fabric to more modern prints.
football-player
Name of Maker: jadugas
From a photo of my football player grandson. His number is on his jersey. The number on his helmet is in memory of a fallen team member.
