Florida Rainforest
Name of Maker: Eileen Kuhre
Florida Rainforest - My nephew John had a new room in a new house, and he decorated it as a rainforest. When I saw this panel, I thought it would be a great floor pillow to use when watching TV. But when John saw it, he said that he wanted a quilt! So I "grew" the panel with borders, finishing off with some flying geese surrounding opposite corners.
Misty's Quilt
Name of Maker: Eileen Kuhre
Misty's Quilt - Construction is similar to the Log Cabin block. Browns and greens were the colors requested by my niece, Misty, for this "just because" quilt. It was pieced during a very hectic year; I credit it with helping me keep my sanity! I like to do something that I have not done before on each quilt. The on-point squares border was my new experience for this quilt. It was hand quilted on my Hinterberg frame.

"Textures of my life" - This quilt was donated to AAQ for their 2009 auction.

Fabulous
Name of Maker: Jackie Kunkel
Fabulous - The first time that I saw this quilt, I knew I had to make it! Simple yet full of color and variety. I chose, slightly more vivid colors than on the original pattern and it just speaks jewels to me. I quilted it with an edge to edge design called the grass is greener.
Fourth of July
Name of Maker: Jackie Kunkel
Fourth of July - After taking a class with Judy Niemeyer. Here is my creation. It was completely paper pieced and I loved every minute of this quilt from choosing the fabrics right down to the piecing. I have yet to quilt it. But it is a high priority to get this onto my long arm machine soon!
Maureen's Orchid
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Maureen's Orchid - Silversmith, Maureen grows luscious orchids. I selected this one because of the combination of colors in the flowers and because it is a tropical orchid, I gave it an "exotic" background using fabrics with touches of gold or an eastern flavor.
Pulsatilla or Pasque Flower
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Pulsatilla or Pasque Flower - Pulsatilla nestles in mossy rocks in my garden. But, once again, after I selected the flower colors, that seemed too dull. It is the easter flower, so I gave it bright Easter colors. I could not piece intricately feathered leaves, so I heavily quilted that area to give a general impression.
Giant Waterlily
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Giant Waterlily - Waterlilies in my koi pond have been spectacular this year. After playing with design ideas for lilies, leaves and a frog or two, I decided to focus on just one flower and make it very large. I wanted to play with many hues of red and to highlight the bright yellow stamens. Those I made from strips of many fabrics, held down by appliquéing the center and an overlay of tulle.
Trillium Grandiflora
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Trillium Grandiflora - Part of my woodland series. One of several species of trillium I grow. I used fussy cut pieces of a single piece of very busy decorator fabric as the background to set off the broad expanses of green and white of the trillium. I think it gives a somewhat exaggerated color version of the woodland duff.
Hellebores
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Hellebores - Part of my woodland series. I grow a variety of hellebores, some of the newer ones hold their flowers erect. I selected flowers from several plants, so used a block format to showcase them.
Lady Slipper Orchid
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Lady Slipper Orchid - Part of my woodland series; Cypripedium Kentuckiense a lady slipper orchid. It was going to have a mossy rock wall in the background, as it appears in my woodland, but after pinning up the flower fabrics, the mossy rocks seemed too dull. So it looks like it got transplanted to the dessert south west.
Clematis
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Clematis "Belle Etoille" - Part of my garden series. Intended to show Clematis growing up a trellis on a wooden siding in a bushy fashion. Pieced using Ruth B. McDowell's method.
Contemporary Baltimore Album
Name of Maker: Pamela Johnson
Contemporary Baltimore Album - Block designs (other than central element) by Mimi Dietrich. My central block and quilting design. Using bright batiks. Machine quilted "in the ditch" around the sashing, then hand quilted.

Argentine Rose - Inspired by a photograph I took in the rose garden of the Llao Llao resort in Bariloche, Argentina.
Hollyhocks
