Jodan's Giraffe's
Name of Maker: Jacquelyn Morris-Smith
Jodan's Giraffe's - I saw the free pattern listed on Michael Miller's website. My granddaughter, Jordan, wanted a 'giraffe' quilt. I enlarged and shrunk the original giraffe pattern. Placed the appliqued pieces in various places on the whole cloth backing. Choose a complimentary yellow/black striped fabric for the border and voila- done and mailed in time for her birthday.
Ky 2
Name of Maker: Beth McGinn
Ky 2 - This is a remake of my neice's quilt so that I have one to show.
Audreys Dashing Roses
Name of Maker: NaneeWolf and Audrey
Audreys Dashing Roses - This quilt was the first project my eight-year old granddaughter, Audrey, and I were able to work on together. It was a simple block that allowed her to do much of the sewing. Because it went quickly and she could see fast results, she didn't seem to lose interest. The only thing that was a little too intense for her was sewing the sashing to connect the blocks. The quilt was made with the Art Gallery Fabrics' Dashing Roses Collection. The blocks were sized to 12" and the strips cut wider in order to take advantage of the beautiful prints in the collection. Because we wanted the diamond shapes in the sew and flip technique to stand out, the striped fabric was used consistently in the same place on each block, then the four blocks creating the diamond shape were put together with the brown print fabric. Back is lined in dark brown Minkee.

Hibiscus
Name of Maker: Jan Potter
Hibiscus - The pattern for this quilt design was made by enlarging a photo I took which I manipulated in photoshop and cropped for added design interest. Wool batting was used for the petals of the flower to add dimension to the flower. Pom poms were used to embellish the stamen of the flower. Parts of the flower were thread painted with contrasting threads.
Tawny's Quilt

Tawny's Quilt - This quilt is heavily thread painted over a photo printed on fabric. It was then appliqued onto a finished small background quilt.

Quilted on a Bernina domestic sewing machine. The face is hand painted with fabric inks and the buffalo is painted and then embellished with thread.
