Memories of my Grandparents
Name of Maker: Thearica Burroughs
Memories of my Grandparents - My youngest daughter's friend commissioned me to make a memory quilt using her grandparents clothing. I chose the Churn Dash block because it was my own grandmother's favorite block to work with. I set the blocks together slightly off kilter for an added design option. The customer cried when she saw it!
Jack in the Pulpit
Name of Maker: Frieda Anderson
Jack in the Pulpit - Everyday I walk in the little woods near my home with my dog George. In the late spring Jack in the Pulpits appear. I make a game of looking for them in their hiding places on my walks.
No Name
Name of Maker: Amber Anderson
No Name - This quilt got away from me in size. So I've been a little imtimidated to start the quilting on my little home machine. Im getting a new Janome in April, so I think it will probably wait until then. But I was very pleased with the outcome. Another new favorite! Since I'm a new quilter, I'm still learnig, and the biggest thing I learned with this quilt was that going a little slower and paying a little more attention to my 1/4" gives MUCH better seam results. I was excited every time I sewed a new row together and the seams still lined up. I didn't have any plans for this quilt when it was started and was asked what I was going to do with it, and I said I'd probably give it to my boyfriend's mother. But now that the top is done, it's the best one I've done so far and I don't want to give it away. Maybe that's why I'm putting off quilting it.
Antique Quilt
Name of Maker: Great-Grandma Kolister
Antique Quilt - I was hired by a friend to hand quilt this quilt. It was made by her husband's Great-Grandma. She hand pieced it at age 90 in July 1941. I quilted it using a traditional 1/4 inch in on all those print fabrics. I did a heart design in the background fabric.

Quilt for Phoenix - Little Phoenix looks so pretty on these colors. Phoenix is 3 years old. Her brother Dakota lives with us also. She is a Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog "Sheltie". The two of them are the loves of my life.

Dakota's Quilt
Name of Maker: Onalee Henderson (Mom)
Dakota's Quilt - I made this quilt for one of my furry kids. Dakota is a 3 year old Shetland Sheep Dog, with Blue Merle coloring. That fabric is Moda, it is Native American prints. I chose the pattern so he and his sister Phoenix would have quilt patterns the same. Hers is different in color. And yes they are brother and sister, litter mates. The quilt was easy to make. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. I will never part with this quilt.

Beach Babies
Name of Maker: Shelly Larsen
Beach Babies - I had 2 babies, only 10 months apart! The first an exciting and God-blessed adoption, then a surprise pregnancy. (Somebody up there knew these kids needed to be here together!) So it's no wonder I had babies on the brain! Each of the "Redwork" squares was worked in blue thread from a booklet of old style line drawings while I sat, big as a house with one child, while watching the other play on the floor next to me.
Garden Compass
Name of Maker: Shelly Larsen
Garden Compass - This quilt came from a class I took in Seattle's In the Beginning quilt shop. It was taught by the author, M'liss Rae Hawley. This is not my usual choice of color/fabric tones and this was my first foray into paper piecing, so it was a real growing experience for me all around. Loved the class, loved the shop, and love the end result!
My Little Mermaid
Name of Maker: Shelly Larsen
My Little Mermaid - This is a crib size blanket made for my daughter. She has always been a girly-girl and swims like a fish - what better way to combine both than a sparkly pink and purple mermaid quilt. Machine quilted (free-hand) around the quilt, in the plain purple border, are the lyrics to the old time song "By the Beautiful Sea". By the Sea, By the Sea, By the Beautiful Sea, You and Me, You and Me, Oh, How Happy We'll Be.
