My Challenge Quilt
Name of Maker: Karen
My Challenge Quilt - This is a quilt made as a challenge with my quilt group. We chose our own centre block, which I did following a Valori Wells pattern, and then each month were given a new instruction as to how to complete the next border. I prefer piecing so when the theme was 'flowers' I did foundation-pieced flowers, and for a nine-patch I did wonky little nine-patches on the corners of the previous border, and so on. The last border had to be 3-dimensional, so the triangles are made of large pieces of fabric scrunched to fir a smaller shape and beads have been sewn on. It was great fun and I learnt a lot from it, especially things like working out measurements and planning the colours.
Silly Jungle Snakes
Name of Maker: Vicki Fridle
Silly Jungle Snakes - Made using Silly Safari fabric from ModaI pieced all the background and then appliqued the celtic design on top. Since some of the blocks had a snake print, Rebecca quilted snakes all over the quilt. The 6 year old boy who received the quilt was very happy with the snakes.

caroline's poppies
Name of Maker: anne carter
caroline's poppies - Made at a Caroline Sharkey workshop in 2010. Carolines's design with some colour changes. I mixed orange & yellow with the red poppies. Snippets of fabrics cut up & randomly machined onto a background with a water soluble washaway fabric, making a new fabric to cut into poppies & appliqued onto a similarly pieced background. Embellished with Ricky Tims' Razzle Dazzle thread in flower centres. Stems & leaf shapes appliqued & quilted.
