Poppies - The poppies are appliqued on a pieced background. I used thread painting and hand embroidery to enhance the design in several places. I free-motion quilted the piece with my old Bernina.

Paper pieced Christmas tree - This was a challenge from a quilter friend in November 2006. She put her choice of fabrics into a bag and handed them out. I received a bag with mainly green fabrics. I had an aha moment and used a paper piece pattern that I have had for years. I was able to use muslin for my background and lame for the star. I embellished with machine stitching with metallic threads. also added beads and jewels.

Attending MQS was a Golden Opportunity for me to learn from the nation’s best teachers and see beautifully skilled and executed quilts. This original design was inspired by the Mango Margarita Bali Pop which was used to construct the Lone Star.

Leftovers - I took a class on how to use up my scraps and started cutting and cutting and cutting fabric. I ended up with a whole bunch of 2" squares and 3-1/2" squares -- perfect for this quilt.

Christmas 2010 - Purchased embroidery patterns were used as blocks for this Christmas Quilt of unconvential colors. Custom free motion embroidery. This quilt hung in my office for the Christmas season and will return again in 2011.

New Wave

New Wave - Based on Elizabeth Hartman's "New Wave" pattern, found on her blog at www.ohfransson.com . I wanted a larger quilt, so I used 16 different fabrics in eight columns (rather than 12 fabrics in six columns). This easy pattern requires only one fat/regular quarter yard of each fabric, except sashing, binding, and backing fabrics.
