Northern Lights 1 - I created this for the MN Quilters Show Challenge in 2006. I was inspired by an image in a Dover book titled Bevels and Jewels Stained Glass Pattern Book by Ed Sibbett, Jr. The top is a mix of batiks and gold metallic ribbon. The challenge was to create a piece using the fabric packet and other fabrics I added. The Challenge title was "Sew Many Northern Lights." The batting is Warm & Natural 100% cotton. The back is a multi colored hand dyed by Stephanie Forsyth. It did not win a ribbon, but I will keep trying.
Mystery 2 much fun - Another Mystery Quilt made in a class taught by Lyn Mann at Quilt Camp in the Pines. Just love this quilt and to think all fabrics picked out without knowing what design we were going to make!
Dot Com - One can not have enough dots! This was very fun to make. The quilting is in circles and the border spells out Dot Com all of the way around. Another class by Freddy Moran, and just think of the quilts by Freddy that I still have to finish! One just cannot have more fun with such lively colors.
Farmer Phil and Phoebe - This was a wonderful class, taught by Freddy Moran. It was a blast finding all of the flower fab. for Phoebe and Veggies for Phil. Phoebe does have some jewelry on and the quilting in the sashing spells out all fruits, veggies and flowers.
Too Much Fun, Mystery - This is the first full size quilt I had made. It was a mystery class at Quilt Camp in the pines taught by Lyn Mann. I had so much fun and it truely was a surprise to see how the colors I picked worked out. I think I am having an itch to do another mystery, Lyn..................................
Charlott's Grandmother's Quilt Number 2 - My neighbor Charlott gave me the quilt top a couple of years ago. She told me it was the first top her grandmother machine pieced when she got her new sewing machine sometime in the 1930s. I had it quilted with the help of my friend Susan at Chestnut Quilter in Manchester, NH.
Roosters in the Hen House - Quilt 47"x 47", Made for my daughter who collects Roosters. My first machine quilting and machine applique. Applique techniques learned from Ricky Tims, Quilt Camp in the Pines!
My First Quilt - This is the first quilt I ever made. It's a good thing you can't see the seem allowances (such as they are). I don't think there's a straight seam in this quilt, much less a quarter inch seam.
A Quilt Emergency - When our friend Brenda came home from Guatemala with Cindy and Isaiah, her newly adopted children, the week before Thanksgiving 2006, I knew they each needed a quilt for Christmas. These two quilts were such a joy to make.
A Christmas Challenge - My mother gave me the fabric and pattern for this quilt for Christmas in 2002. She wanted to challenge me. She challenged me to the point that I call this quilt -- "Oops, Oh-Oh, Oh Well!". Can you spot the horrible mistake?
Graduation Quilt - I made this for my daughter Jaime when she graduated high school. All of her classmates signed a block. This is my first (and only to date) full sized quilt. Jaime told me it was her most prized possesion.
Charlott's Grandmother's Quilt Number 1 - When my dear neighbor Charlott died in March 2007 at the age of 75, she left me this wonderful silk and satin quilt in the fan block pattern, I think. It was made by her grandmother, probably in the early 1930s. We miss you Charlott.
Seeing Red - Another "charm" quilt; every 4" square is a different red. Sure was fun collecting fabrics *_*
Love the black/white/red eyeglass fabric for border. I'll get a better pic up soon...sorry it's fuzzy.
Schoolhouse Wallhanging - This is my favorite wallhanging! The published pattern was done in blues, pink and cream. I changed the colors, a first for me. I also used invisible machine applique for the first time. This wallhanging is "me".
