Antique fan - I purchased this amazing quilt at a local auction. It is made form 100% cotton, dating to approximatly 1930-1940. It had been found in a hope chest never used! What a find!!!
Classic Santa's - I feel in love with these fantastic Santa applique, but choose to set them using traditional sampler blocks, sashing, and a ribbon border.
Rocky Mountain (traditional name) - This pattern dates back to the 1860's so I chose Civil War Reproduction fabrics. The quilt is a representation of my summer. The fabrics are from a Quilt shop that was noted in a National magazine as being on the "Ultimate Shop Hop" and it happened to be not far from where we were going on summer vacation in Waxahachie, TX. The block is what my Quilt Club worked on in July and the quilting designs and binding method is from an instructional DVD from Ricky Tims that was in my goody bag I got on my visit to see a taping of The Quilt Show the first Sunday in August.
Sailing in the tropics - This quilt is all diamonds with some applique on top. It is to remind me of our sailing adventures in South Pacific and the Carribean
Black & White Masquerade - I designed and made the quilt after an annual black & white masquerade party I co-hosted. I hand quilted one of the blocks and machine quilted the rest with my Bernina. The masks were fused on and then were hand appliqued. There are various embellishments added such as buttons and ribbons.
Making Snowballs From Bow Ties - This version used a folded center square to give dimension. Fabrics from stash give a scrappy look. Blocks were arranged to cascade from light to dark.
I Remember 9/11 - I used patriotic fabrics to replicate the look of a flag. A millenium fabric was used on the back because it featured "Twin Towers" of New York City.
Mother's Day Quilt - I just chose fabrics that made me think of the warmth of my mother's dining room during holidays. I put them together as I learned new quilt techniques, so it is a beginner's "quilt-as-you-learn" quilt!
Paul's Fruit Bowl - This was for an ArtImage Challenge with a group of online art quilters. The image we used for inspiration was a painting my Paul Cezanne. I also made it to fit a wall in my dining area...
Nursery Rhymes (full quilt picture) - Full quilt. I loved the "deer in headlights" look when the mom-to-be saw the quilt label and realized that I made it.
Kimra & Ted's Wedding Quilt - Made as the "Guest Book" for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding in December of 2004. The center is a copy of the invitation printed on fabric. The quilt was on the entry table with an assortment of fabric pens for guests to sign.
Between Friends - This is my third and last quilt I am making for the "Make a quilt for the soldiers" project started by
Quilt Lovers Hangout, my LQS in N. Ft Myers, FL.
Cruisin' Fremont - I entered this quilt in a challenge at the Quilt Boutique in Las Vegas, Nevada. I used the Union Block to represent the old Union Train Station at the end of Fremont Street. The train station had a circular driveway that all the teenagers would use to circle back to cruise Fremont Street on Friday and Saturday nights during the 1960's.
The Whig Rose - Made for the Citrus Belt Quilter's Guild Challenge. I took artistic license and added some hand-dyed fabrics. Fortunately, they didn't exclude my quilt.
Heart Rings - I saw a picture of the old newspaper clipping of this 1930's quilt in a Quilter's Newsletter Magazine and I drafted the block. One or two blocks were pieced on my 40th anniversary cruise to Hawaii.
