Plaid Flowers
Name of Maker: karlpompa
Plaid Flowers - This was for a challenge, which required that the quilt include (1) at least one flower; (2) made with at least one plaid fabric. Both of the required elements made me stretch...
Pumpkin Patch
Name of Maker: John Werner Jr
Pumpkin Patch - Log Cabin Blocks and Fused Machine Applique. All fabrics are from JoAnns (substituted for pattern fabric list). Norman Suhr Machine Quilted this for me and put on the binding.
Morbid Baby Quilt
Name of Maker: karlpompa
Morbid Baby Quilt - I read somewhere that black, red, and white were the most stimulating colors for newborns, so when a friend asked for a baby quilt, I thought "why not?" Needless to say, when she saw the piece is progress, she thought I was crazy, and a more normal quilt was requested (pastels; sigh....). So I made this bigger, and I figure ultimately I can use it for free-motion quilting practice!
Hello Kitty on Crack
Name of Maker: karlpompa
Hello Kitty on Crack - This is an in-progress picture of a baby quilt made for an upcoming baby girl. The pink is way, way, way pink. This is what happens when I try to make something girly... We call it "Hello Kitty on Crack."
Hawaiian Memory
Name of Maker: Martha Szescila
Hawaiian Memory - After a long time away from hand quilting and a wonderful trip back to Hawaii, I decided to capture the feeling of Hawaii in this quilt. It is the color of the water there and here at home in Destin. My new husband had never seen my hand-quilted work so I thought I'd better prove I could really do it! I used batik fabric with a bit of gold painted on in the shapes of shells. It was enjoyable and very relaxing.
Sugarplum Christmas Quilt
Name of Maker: Jeri Hallinan and Jane Soller
Sugarplum Christmas Quilt - One of the joys of machine quilting for others is the wonderful people you meet and the friendships you make. Two of my favorite applique quilters, Jeri and Jane, surprised me last Christmas with an awesome gift - this applique quilt top. They each did five blocks and assembled them into the top. I was unable to quilt before last Christmas, but I finally quilted it for this years holidays!
Reed Between the Lines
Name of Maker: karlpompa
Reed Between the Lines - This was my entry into the 2006 Hoffman Challenge. (My fourth attempt at entering, and the first time I finished by the deadline...) Won Best First Time Entry in the pieced division. The challenge fabric was the purple bamboo-looking thing, which was definitely a challenge for me. I really like the "challenge" process; it's a great opportunity to stretch and develop, creativity-wise.
Stepping Stones
Name of Maker: Jodi Brown
Stepping Stones - A gift to help decorate their new office...all in greens and browns.
Samantha's Ladder
Name of Maker: Valerie Beaver
Samantha's Ladder - Made, using fabrics inherited from my grandmother, for my niece Samantha. While I don't particularly care for the colors or the blended fabrics, it's the memories and sense of heritage that made me keep the fabrics and use them. All my kids, nieces and nephews get a crib quilt and then a quilt for their bed. As everyone is growing up now, I'll soon be making wedding quilts. This is a tradition I inherited from my grandmother.
Hannah's Quilt
Name of Maker: Valerie Beaver
Hannah's Quilt - Made two in different colors for new twin niece (Hannah) and nephew (Cameron). Cameron's has blue shades replacing the pink, but otherwise they are the same.
I have the blues and I'm happy about it!
Name of Maker: Anna Braun
I have the blues and I'm happy about it! - blue and white quilt top made from blocks from a swap on about.com. Arranged with blues around outside and whites arranged in the inside.
Three Mothers, A Dozen Hankies
Name of Maker: ashibut
Three Mothers, A Dozen Hankies - Corners of handkerchiefs from my mother, my mother-in-law and myself form the baskets. Machine pieced, hand appliqued basket handles, machine quilted. First quilt on which I used Ricky Tims' machine binding with piping technique.
Name of Maker: Lori Sheirer
"Catty" - My first quilt. I'm embarrassed to show it here, but this is the quilt that started my love of quilting. :) I've learned a lot since this quilt.
