Angels - This mini quilt/wall hanging was done in colored pencils. The angel pattern is from Claire Stoner and can be found in Good Friends are Like Angels.
Ramblin' Rose Meets Jamestown - Since this is the four hundredth year since the founding of Jamestown, I thought it would be fun to make this block of the month quilt in a class at my LQS. It is a king size quilt and the largest I've made so far. We used Marti Michell template sets A and C. The fabric is by Maywood Studio.
Small North Star Labyrinth - This is a double-sided quilt with a classic three-circuit Labyrinth as the quilting design. It is beaded at the entrance, goal, and what I'll call the contemplative spot on both sides. The front (green/blue) has a beaded pattern similar to the North Star quilt block pattern. The fabric was hand painted. It is hand quilted with thick decorative thread using a big stitch method. It is a finger labyrinth and mean to be touched and used.
Courthouse Steps and a trip to the Vet - This is a traditional courthouse steps quilt made with reproduction fabrics from the late 1800s. It's hand pieced and hand quilted for a truly authentic looking quilt.
Wacky Christmas - I was cleaning up my fabric and found the material. I thought it would make a good stack and whack project. so in a few hours I constructed this small quilt. I will use it for a table cover
First Home - This started with fabric I recieved from my secert sister at my guild. Over a couple of months I just made block up and stored them. Once I had about 30 blocks I started to essemble the quilt. There was no design at first it just spoke to me on how it wanted it to be put together. This was given to my son, Richard, when he moved into his first home.
Space Snakes - This is my verison of the Rattlesnake pattern. It is a paper piecing pattern from Karen Stone. I thought the bright color just called for a unique design.
Poppi-Suns - I began the poppy pattern to teach myself machine applique. Once the poppies were completed, I drafted the "suns" for the center of the quilt. This quilt has won various awards in local and state competitions as well as been juried into the 2006 AQS show in Nashville. It was also chosen for use in the AQS 2008 Quilt Art Engagement Calendar.
Butterfly in Flight - This is an original design done for the Robert Kaufman 2007 "Think out of the Box" quilt contest. This is the first quilt I entered in a contest and it was chosen to go in the Travel Show through out the USA in 2007 - 2008.
Charting my Directions - I have always loved mariner's compass blocks, so why not try a few in various colors and sizes! I donated the quilt for to Franklin County, FLorida "Friends of the Library" fundraiser.
Early Showing - Another of my quilts based on a snapshot. I was walking down my driveway on a spring day and saw some beautiful prematurely red maples leaves on a tree branch, surrounded by bright spring green leaves.
Sangria - This quilt was begun in hopes of submitting it to the MAQS dresden plate challenge. I was unable to complete it in time for that deadline, but I entered it to the AQS Paducah show, as my first entry into a competition other than my local guild shows. It was accepted, and was totally shocked and everso thrilled.
my first born - This is my first attempt at making a portrait quilt of a child. It was done from a snapshot of my daughter when she was about 18 months old, after a July 4th family party and she was about to fall asleep on her feet. (The snapshot is attached to the top of the quilt)
Star Bargello #2 - I made this quilt for an auction for Muscular Distrophy auction for ALS research. My late husband's Doctor won the bid and has it hanging on a wall in his home.
Cat with Christmas Lights - This is a wallhanging that I started a couple of years ago and only recently completed. I am not certain of the name of the pattern and a computer search came up with no information as to the exact name of the pattern. This was a fun quilt as it reminds me of my cat "Bean."
Humane Society Dog/Cat Cage Quilts - During Spring Break my 3 GC made quilts for the local Humane Society dog/cat cages. H.S. gave us the sizes need and we made 16 quilts for our fur friends. It was a wonderful adventure.
Wooden Houses - Inspired by traditional house patterns and Robert Kaufman Home Improvement fabric line. Entered in the Robert Kaufman 2007 Miniature Contest and I’m so happy to be included in the touring collection with a stop in Houston!!! 961 1/2" squares quilted with silk thread. Back is one large pieced house.
