Tropical Flower Garden in Virginia - I began this quilt when I found out my husband was being air-evacuated from Iraq with injuries. There were long stays in hospitals in Portsmouth and San Antonio while foot re-construction, toe amputations, and knee replacements were done. I needed something I could control while my life was spinning out of control. I chose bright batiks to lift my spirits while I waited. I hand stitched the quilt while my husband was being stitched back together. It took two years to complete the quilt...it is taking longer for my husband, but there is power in prayer. Prayer and quilting...what else do you need?
Summer Breeze - This was an finished topper that I purchased many years ago. I had hopes of machine quilting it myself but it was too big so I finally had it professional quilted and I finished it this year.
The Threads That Bind - This is my version of Edyta Sitar's Spool Quilt. I doubled the number of spools and re-designed the border vine to include fucshia, pansies and shamrocks. All the spools were from an exchange here on TQS - The WotRoTT exchange.
Simply Spring Quilt with Giraffe - This pattern was free and wanted to add a little something so I fused the giraffe on the quilt. It was made for a twin girl born in September. For her brother I did the same quilt with blues/greens and fused a octopus on the quilt.
Reversible Child's quilt - I used the suggestion of the Mixtape quilt and the methodology of Sharon Petersen's Reversible Quilts. The front is mostly fabric from Hawaii and the back is purchased locally. To be donated to Project Linus.
Unknown Absolute, 2. - A continuation of my exploration of the point, defined by Kadinsky as "the unknown absolute" this quilt was inspired by a swirl of hair in my dog's coat.
Bill's quilt - I made this quilt for my brother Bill's 60th birthday. I think he was quiet pleased to receive it, and I enjoyed making it. I tried to use the same colour combinations used in the magazine, as they looked really great, and I think I succeeded.
Happy Days Ahead - This picture shows both front and back of the quilt. This was a commission for a beloved granddaughter for a high school graduation gift. The colors are all her favorites. The back used extra pieces from the front along with yardage to make a modern design as an alternate to the "front" stars.
Shadow of Plaids Gone By - This is shadow quilt using a variation of the Ohio Star block. Darker colors create a large star in the background "shadowing" the smaller blocks. It is made up of homespun fabrics.
Also Honors - Adapted from T-Shirt bought at Little Bighorn Memorial. Border design by John Flynn. Jim Yellowhawk has given permission for use of this adaptation of "Also Rises" for the Quilts of Valor program, as long as he is credited on the label.
I plan to re-make this quilt (minus the border) for my late husband, SGT Michael Boelter; to hang at this Air Force Reserve Unit, 96APS, Little Rock Air Station. Back to be his service ribbons.
