Mexican Star
Name of Maker: Deonn Stott
Mexican Star - This was a mystery quilt made at a guild retreat. No one had any idea of the end result as construction steps were revealed one at a time. I love this quilt! It is EASY to make with strip piecing and folded squares tucked into corners as you piece the units together. Then turn back the bias edges of the folded squares to create the cathedral window look that is so stunning! Check out the website for this pattern: www.southwindquilts.com.

Once Upon a Fairy Tale Forest
Name of Maker: Frank Figueredo
Once Upon a Fairy Tale Forest - I attempted to capture the essence of a fantasy forest's interior. Thread colors and fabric perfect match, making the quilting hard to see unless one is near the quilt. P.S. - This was the second quilt I made. I learned my quilting by following Alex Anderson's boooks! Even though the quilting is almost invisible, I am so proud of this little beauty that it hangs over my bed's headboard.

Shared stars
Name of Maker: Nannae
Shared stars - As a member of a quilt guilde, there are always block swaps and chances to win them. I did a block and put it in the lot, and I acutally won the lot!! Took me awhile to put it together, but once I finally found the fabrics to go with it I think it came together nicely. I machine pieced it and quilted it on a long arm machine. Once again, I meandered the quilting. If you are ever in a swap and win the blocks, do try to put them together. You might find out that you like the quilt afterall. My wish is that I have inspired you to finish even the "swap" blocks you get.
