Twas The Night Before Christmas
Name of Maker: Judy Chase
Twas The Night Before Christmas - This quilt is the poem "The Night Before Christmas". It is all from a mouse's perspective. The designs are from The Embroidery Library and are quite enchanting. I made this quilt for my friend Eileen Jones; to be auctioned off at a Gala Fundraiser for her charity "The Gift Of Hearing", this charity provides cochlea implants for deaf children. The embroidery took 84 hours, there were 1,123,562 stitches in the embroidery alone, and I had to change the thread over 800 times. I used a Bernette Bernette 340 embroidery machine and a Bernina Aurora sewing machine. This was the first quilt I had made using embroidery. In retrospect, it probably could have looked a bit jazzier, but in real time you don't want to take away from the embroidery designs.
Laurel Burch Cat Quilt
Name of Maker: Judy Chase
Laurel Burch Cat Quilt - The cats are all Laurel Burch embroidery designs. They are embroidered on 6" square pieces of fabric, then they have colorful borders attached. Then I free-motion quilted the entire quilt. I made it for my great friend Jhane Marello. I am fortunate to have met her 5 years ago, we are so close it is like having another sister. Last November we went out west to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. We also visited quilt stores in Flagstaff and Sedona. Jhane fell in love with a quilt with cats on it and went on and on and on about how much she would pay me to make a quilt for her. Little did she know that I had already made this quilt for her and that it was all wrapped up and ready for her to take home with her when we ended our vacation. I got such a kick out of it :) How luck to have found such a good friend. Love you Jhaney

Wild Thing
Name of Maker: Beckie
Wild Thing - This was the first quilt that I made. I used thick polyester batting and stiched in the ditch around the borders on all blocks. This was sent to my cousin in Texas to celebrate the birth of her first son. I hesitated in naming it "Wild Thing" because I didn't want to jinx her son but the colors just screamed out to me, no other name would have been fitting.
