This quilt is the poem "The Night Before Christmas". It is all from a mouse's perspective. The designs are from The Embroidery Library and are quite enchanting. I made this quilt for my friend Eileen Jones; to be auctioned off at a Gala Fundraiser for her charity "The Gift Of Hearing", this charity provides cochlea implants for deaf children. The embroidery took 84 hours, there were 1,123,562 stitches in the embroidery alone, and I had to change the thread over 800 times. I used a Bernette Bernette 340 embroidery machine and a Bernina Aurora sewing machine. This was the first quilt I had made using embroidery. In retrospect, it probably could have looked a bit jazzier, but in real time you don't want to take away from the embroidery designs. |
