Angels in the Snow
Name of Maker: Judy Johnson
Angels in the Snow - This quilt was my first wholecloth quilt. I loved making it, even when I decided to change the thread color and had to remove about 1/4 of the stitching! Now I make samples! What a great idea. This quilt brought back memories of my childhood days when my family would play in the sparkling snow and then in the morning the angels were all over the yard. I loved those days.

Princess Ballerina
Name of Maker: Anet
Princess Ballerina - Commissioned to create, design, and make this twin size quilt for a new daughter due in August of 2008 by my A/C repairman. Design was based on a piece of wallpaper border used to decorate her room. Hand drawing and painting as well as commercially made iron-ons were used to embellish the squares. Colors were chosen per the wall paper. Had lots of fun and my quilting group oohed and aahhed.

State Birds - This quilt was made for an aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary. They collect birds and I had leftover fabric from a state bird quilt I started several years ago so I used it along with homespun plaid fabrics leftover from other projects.

Get well Pillow for Peggy
Name of Maker: Dee Felt
Get well Pillow for Peggy - A niece was given the bad news that she has brain cancer and will undergo the usual post operative rehab. I thought it would be handy to have something to hug, cry and lean on when things are looking grim. The poem written by my husband and the other side has some handy thoughts to redirect her sadness. I used an machine embroidery flower design for the middle and the alphabets to write the message. The fun was in the free-form quilting to complete the look.
Outer Space
Name of Maker: Diana Hartigan
Outer Space - I called this quilt "Outer Space" because it is so far removed from my usual quilting style that when I looked at it I thought I had ended up in space. I think it could be described as an abstract log cabin.

Worth the Hike

Worth the Hike - I bought this pattern and kit at Mountain Lady Quilt Shop in Estes Park, CO on a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a great reminder of a very scenic trip and also of a fabulous quilt shop. It mostly fusible applique and quilted in the open spaces with various animal motifs and free motion anchoring down the pieces. Makes me want to go back!
Bear
Name of Maker: Linda Hines
Bear - My sister picked out this pattern and kit at the Desert Quilters Show in Las Vegas and I made it for her and gave it to her as a birthday present. It was mostly all fusible applique and was fun and easy to make. I used real feathers and beads rather than making ones out of fabric. It came out great and she has it proudly displayed in her dining room.
Storm at Sea
Name of Maker: Linda Hines
Storm at Sea - I ordered this pre-cut kit from Fons & Porter which was designed by John Flynn. Pre-cut is the only way I ever would have made this quilt. It was challenging but came out great. It was a lot of fun laying out the colors to get the secondary patterns. I machine quilted it with various sea-life motifs in gold metallic thread. It sure brightens up the room!
