Ode to Escher - I took a class with Karen Combs at the NC Quilt Symposium in Winston-Salem NC. I completed one of the RWB center blocks in the class and then went home and came up with this design. I love it. This is actually going to hang vertically and a friend put the binding on it for me! But I couldn't wait to post a picture.
The Juggling Act - Quilt was designed for a Quilt Guild's Fabric Challenge. The image reflects the everyday challenges of women juggling their life and responsibilities. The piece is primarily hand applique with couched pearl cotton for the "splashes and spillage". This image is 3-D using trapunto techniques.
Healing Rain - The Quilt was inspired by the song "Healing Rain". Most of the work was done by hand to create my own fabric using hand dyed ribbon, silks, organza, rayons, micro suede, threads, and fibers. The rain affect is achieved by using loose linen threads attached only at the top. The figure is 3-D which results in natural shadows.
Amanda's candycane - To teach my granddaughter to start quilting we chose ten pink fabrics and I cut 5 inch squares and arranged them in rows with a candycane pattern. She sewed the squares into strips and I sewed the strips together and then tested my new bernina and BSR to quilt it for her. She is thrilled.
Awards hanging - I needed something to show off my Bowling accomplishments. I ended up making one for everyone on my league, changing the ball color to match each person's ball.
Good Morning Savannah - I saw this book and thought it would be perfect for the newest member of our family. First time baby for my sister in law and Brother in law. Also a first time for me to make fans, trapunto, and scallops. This is probably one of the best quilts I have made to date.
Shirley's get well spell quilt - found the blocks in a sack of donated fabric and set them into this quilt for Shirley in time for her trip to the hospital for surgery
"Inspirations of Greatness" - Raffle quilt for our annual charity fundraiser for Special Olympics...The World's Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics" which is held in conjunction with the "Law Enforcement Torch Run"
Coffee Trio - Trio of small quilt wall-hangings, designed by McKenna Ryan. Background is pieced, with raw-edge fused applique. "Steam" is depicted with a combination of fabric applique and angelina hot-fix fibers. Height & Width measurements are from all 3 quilts as they are displayed in photo.
Autumn Sampler - This was a BOM offered by the LQS in Bayfield, WI. She provided the pattern each month, you picked out your own fabrics. We used "Thangles" to create the blocks.
Thompie - Photograph printed on to Ricky Tims Stable stuff. Picture stitched from the back with bobbin threads showing. Some stitching done from the front.
The Allotment - My daughter has an Allotment - an area of ground rented from the city council to grow your own vegetables and flowers. This piece shows some of the sheds on the allotment and other things which can be found there. It requires detailed examination!
