Cowboy Charlie - Author/illustrator Jeanette Winter gave me permission to use the beautiful images from her children's book in this quilt. It was a joy to make.
Autumn Stars - Another quilt for my new book Innovations and Renovations: String Quilts. I love making Star quilts, and I really loved quilting the oak leaves in the black squares on this one. It will definitely be a quilt we will use on our bed as soon as we're done with the photography process.
Flower Pots - This quilt was made for my new pattern book Innovations and Renovations: String Quilts that is scheduled for release next fall. I am working on 6 more new quilts for the pattern portion of the book. Watch for it!
Eileen's treasure - I thought it would be nice to get rid of scraps of fabric. This is the perfect pattern with lots of 2 inch squares of any color or type. Eileen is in a nursing home. I thought this would be a cheerful addition to her room. Did I get rid of excess fabrics -- Yes, but not nearly enough.
Starburst - I attended a Super Seminar last year. When I came home I looked at the 24 block of the month squares that were orphaned in my sewing room. They were all on a star theme. I really don't like doing structured blocks, but decided that perhaps I could try that KOOL KALEIDOSCOPE that Ricky demonstrated, and make them acceptable. This was the result
mills of Norfolk - Through the internet I had just discovered the pictures of the mill at Oxnead Norfolk U.K. My fathers family ran that mill for extended generations. It is now a historic site with lots of history dating back to the 1600's. I became attached to the picture and decided to produce a quilt representing the mill wheel.
Snowy Slience Revisited - The wall hanging included fabric panel, FPP, Machine embordery and quilting. I used Ricky's technique for binding the quilt. Unfortunately, I didn't have the acrylic template to miter to corners.
Male Pied Hornbill - The pied hornbill is quite a common bird where we live, but very distinctive with its large toucan like casque. We had a pair in our garden for a while last year and I photographed them and then created this design of the male hornbill.
The design is constructed using invisible machine applique with batik fabrics on a printed ombre fade background and quilted with a leaf pattern in two different shades of variegated cotton thread and a random pattern in the border.
Tree Frog - This small wall hanging is of a four lined tree frog which I photographed one day in our garden. The design is constructed using satin stitch machine applique and rayon thread. It is quilted using variegated cotton and invisible thread.
