Name of Maker: Marion Dowell
My daughter presented me with my fourth grandson and requested a gray and purple quilt.  Hideki's inital forms the background of the quilt.  Also on the quilt are the initials of his three older brothers and their cat.  Machine quilted in the central heart is the name of their deceased older sister.

dreams-of-paradise
Name of Maker: Karen Snedeker
This is my first ever entry in a Challenge whose theme was "Another Day in Paradise" to be interpreted in a 24 x x24 quilt.  My applique entry represents the Paradise of my dreams where we are not bound by reality.  It includes a wonderful supper club located seaside on a warm tropical beach just a short sandy walk from majestic snow covered mountains.  The dance floor (the challenge fabric) elevates dancers right up into the sky filled with perpetual Aurora Borealis, sun, moon and stars.  Can you guess which couple represents my husband and me?

I made this quilt using fabrics in my stash to donate to my friend who serves as a missionary in Honduras.  She & her husband minister to the Honduran pastors and support them with Christmas gifts of clothing, school supplies, and needed household items as well as operate feeding centers and training for local jobs for the Honduran adults and orphans.

I made this with lots of love to share with someone I don't know.   I wish I could deliver this in person and give a hug along with the quilt!

The pattern is from the In Color Order website and it is a great pattern, Giant Vintage Star Quilt.  The piecing goes together very quickly and my mind and hands just had a lot of fun with the quilting using a Superior Threads variegated thread in bronzes & golds. All hand-guided quilting, freehand quilting on my HQ Fusion long-arm machine.

(The quilt lays flat... I didn't have time to mount for a proper photo so this is the non-professional-held-by-husband photo!  :)  )

Machine applique with lots of free motion machine quilting, the best part of the quilting process for me!  Inspiration was the ombre fabric as it spoke garden party to me.

Deviating from my Art Quilter roots, this is the first traditional, pieced quilt for me. When my granddaughter requested a kitty cat quilt for her first "big girl" bed, I found a simple pattern (which I enlarged and made minor changes to), located the cat fabric and all the coordinating fabrics (three were from my stash) and a lightly used white bed sheet was used for the backing.  I really enjoyed constructing this quilt, and sharpened some skills in the process! Random Hearts Quilt
Name of Maker: Bev Remillard
Love heart quilts!  Random Hearts is my original pieced design with large and small hearts set in a chain design for easy piecing.  I chose bold reds of many colors to speak as the large hearts and to sit in the background, I chose softer, medium value hearts of a smaller size - gives the quilt just the right flair!  One of my most popular classes and patterns - pattern includes a table runner version as well as quilt!
French Twist Quilt
Name of Maker: Bev Remillard
Creamy Blues and sweet reds pull together this twisted quilt.  The twist is in the original 'Swirl' block, which is an easy pieced block created with traditional elements.  I love the way this quilt carries a secondary design based on color placement alone - plenty of fun!  Quilt pattern includes 3 sizes.
