Midnight in the Garden of Good and Nou'veau
Name of Maker: Robin Gausebeck
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Nou'veau - This is my entry into the 2010 New Quilts from an Old Favorite contest at the National Quilt Museum. It was selected as a finalist, which means that it will be hanging in the quilt museum, whether or not I win an award, during quilt week in Paducah. This year's contest theme was the sunflower block and the challenge was to take this traditional block and use it in an innovative way. This quilt reflects my love of all things Art Nouveau. There is trapunto work and I quilted it using Superior black metallic thread.

Esplanade
Name of Maker: Ellen Sherman
Esplanade - I took a technique class, using the wedge ruler, from my local quilt shop. In the class I learned to create wedges and turn them in any direction I wanted. After trying many twists and turns, i came upon the one I liked best. It reminded me of a path through a park that I had walked as a child. My mother called that path "The Esplanade" , therefore the name. It was displayed at our guild's exhibit in Homestead and was one of the quilts shown on the flyer to advertise the exhibit. It hangs on the wall in my livingroom. I am very proud of the machine quilting on it as I did it on my home sewing machine.
