Inspired by Libby - Inspired by the demonstration Libby Lehman gave on TQS of using the circle attachment.
I used my hand dyed fabrics and added some triangles too.
Railroad Crossing - I just had to play with this wonderful bali-like fabric that I found. Its just amazing what can be done with just 1 yard of print fabric and a good strong solid.
Auntie Una's - My younger sister had just died of breast cancer when I was asked to make this quilt. Unbeknown to me, after purchasing the fabric I realised the Breast Cancer pink ribbon symbol was detailed throughout the pattern. Working on this quilt was very theorputic and challenging.
Children and Goldfish - I decided to fuzzy cut the drunkard's path with children from the fabric. Placement of these children determined the design. With the additional of an accent fabric also enhanced the design.
I like dimension on my quilts, so the goldfish was added was supperimposed over goldfish on the fabric. Beads were also added for dimension.
Red, Green, Black - I cut varying widths of red and green strips, sewed them into blocks, then cut diagonally. Sorted them, mixed them up, re-assembled them.
Alice's Triumph - I saw a design like this in an ad, and I emailed the company. They didn't have the pattern. This is my guesswork. Thank you folks who found the pattern in Eleanor Burn's Quilts Through The Seasons!
singin'in the Rain - Rag Quilt with embroidered animals using umbrellas in the rain, and a picture of my grandson in his raincoat. Decorative stitching of duck prints walking all over the quilt.
Kitchen Window Quilt - This quilt was made to size to insulate my north facing kitchen window during the winter. I was also just learning to machine quilt on my Baby Lock machine, so it's a practice piece.
flamingo thought - This piece was done for a Heather Thomas color theory class and was based on thoughts about my family who lives in Florida and in the Bahamas. This piece was a joy to put together as each feather was fused to another fabric and then cut out and piled on in layers. Fake feathers were added in during the layering.
Lake Como III - Featured in Noteworthy section of Machine Quilters Unlimited, March 2010 issue. Constructed same as first two quilts. A challenge to get colors just right. A labor of love that comes to life when the colors are right.
