Jim's Quilt
Name of Maker: Joyce S Herringer
Jim's Quilt - When my husband was a little boy of about 5-6 he collected military service patches from men coming back from WW11, He asked them for their patches. When we were married in 1969 my mother-in-law gave me a shoe box full of these not so clean patches and said, "Now you can have these" I told my husband of three months, "Someday I will make you a quilt out of these." I didn't know how to quilt at that time. Some of these patches go back to the Civil Wr. One is hand made, from the China Burma campaign. The service star in the center of the quilts was my son Michael's idea, he was about 14 at the time. There is only one patch that we bought and that is the Dessert Storm Patch.

Twisted Rudy
Name of Maker: Quilter64
Twisted Rudy - My 10 year old granddaughter, loves Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer , so when I saw this pattern, I had to make the wall hanging for her. It gave me the chance to try out my Lil' Twister Ruler by Country Schoolhouse. This looks hard, but is actually fun and easy.
Bubblegum Parfait
Name of Maker: Laura Hamilton
Bubblegum Parfait - I wanted my quilt to have spaces to highlight my long arm quilting, so I took the blocks and placed them en pointe with cream muslin. I surrounded the muslin setting squares / triangles with piano key pieces to form a mock sashing. I surrounded the quilt center with 8" strips of the cream muslin and finished it with more piano keys. I used a quilting pattern called "Chrysanthemum" as the basis for the quilting.

Charlie
Name of Maker: Wendy Watts
Charlie - A friend asked me to make a quilt of her mother and dog with a picture of a boat in the background to represent her father. She sent me some photographs and I was able to reproduce the dog with the help of friends on the forum but have yet to get the skills to make her mother to the standard I would like. So the church window represents her mother (a vicar). Thank you my TQS friends for your encouragement.

Bouquets for a New Day
Name of Maker: Jean Konopacz
Bouquets for a New Day - I started this quilt in 2008 when Sue Garman's pattern and instructions were first posted. I followed month by month faithfully. But good hand applique takes time. Work schedules, illnesses, then a move across the ocean when all my things were in storage for months got in the way. Once the blocks were finished, I sewed on the plain cream border suggest but was not satisfied. I just had to do more hand applique to complicate things. Then how to quilt it? The center was mostly done struggling with a domestic Bernina. Half way through I decided to buy an Innova long arm quilter. Now, four years later, I can finally say I am finished and satisfied. Four years was well worth it!
