"Mineral Art" - The pattern is from the Better Homes and Gardens - Quilt Lovers Favorites - Volume 4. I adapted a "change" in the pattern by copying "mineral art" pictures created by my brother for a quilt for him. My brother is a wonderful artist and draws mineral art from stones that he finds in mines. I scanned his drawings, printed them on muslin and "inserted" them in the center of each square. To make this quilt "shine" like a gem stone, I used fairy-frost material within each square to match the center stone. It was truly a "treasure"!

JoJo's Pride - Thimbleberries Pattern from the Big Book of Quilts. My first queen sized quilt. I pieced this quilt and quilted it on my Grace Frame. My brother and sister-in-law love it!
Bonnet Gals

Bonnet Gals - I bought the pattern at a dollar store of the little girls in all different motions. Since a my FIRST granddaughter was on the way I thought how perfect it was. I found the backing material of all sorts of similar little bonnet gals in all diff colors and it worked out so well! I added the borders and changed the size so it was larger and then quilted it.

gentleman's fancy
Name of Maker: Denise Gies
gentleman's fancy - During an unusual snow storm that closed down schools for 3 days, I cut the fabrics for this quilt entirely out of my stash! What a great feeling it was to create something from what I already had. (Didn't even make a dent in my stash) My husband is napping under this quilt right now... it's his favorite. Backed with flannel.
Double Wedding Ring
Name of Maker: Denise Gies and unknown quilter from the 30's
Double Wedding Ring - Antique pieces purchased at a car swap meet in the 1980's. Not complete. These pieces were very inconsistent in size and even shape. Not enough lavender fabric to complete. (it was originally set with lavendar background) After taking it halfway apart, I redrafted the melon shapes, used reproduction pieces to add the end pieces and then used the original lavender as one of the post colors and added the complimentary yellow posts. entirely hand pieced and quilted.
Crepe Paper Poppies
Name of Maker: Desiree
Crepe Paper Poppies - This is another one of my art quilts. I am an avid gardner and love growing flowers. In the spring the Iceland Poppies are in full bloom and cover my side yard with their wonderful warm colors. I was sitting out there and painting them when I decided that they would be my next quilt. The neighbors would always comment on how they didn't look real, but looked as if they were made from crepe paper.
Home for the Holiday's
Name of Maker: Desiree
Home for the Holiday's - I offer patterns for sale to quilt shops. This is a bird lovers favorite holiday quilt. There are 5 birdhouse blocks on point. Four of them circling the birds on a wire. Each house is differently decorated for Christmas and the birds are wearing scarfs and hats. A cute wall hanging for the holidays. Could easily make into a lap quilt by adding borders.
