Design Source - Description | This is one of my art quilts. I hand painted the fabrics and quilted the leaves independently before attaching to the quilt. I took small seams to add texture and veining to each leaf. The birds faces are painted with inks and pens. I then quilted the pattern of the leaves in the background to give the feeling of more leaves. It is a inspiration quilt for me, it represents the strength required to break out of the limitations placed on us and become what we are truly meant to be. Its that journey of growth, whether spiritual, physical, artistically or personally that I wanted to celebrate. How come some birds can break free to become true birds while others are not willing to take a chance. I dedicated this quilt to my daughter who after being hit by a drunk driver continues to over come many of the challenges that face her while never letting them hold her captive spiritually. |
