PePe
Name of Maker: ocindyo
PePe - PePe joined our family in 2005. He has become my constant companion and my "heart dog". After losing our rescued greyhound, Anna, to a seizure, I desperately needed another canine companion. PePe fills the bill. He seemed like an appropriate subject for the first in my pet series. I started with a drawing of PePe and reviewed my fabric collection to bring him into focus. Photos of PePe printed on fabric with an inkject printer are featured in the border. I had just gotten my new Aurora 440 and had to try out the available stitches. After the image was appliqued, I felt it needed further definition, so I couched black pearl cotton around the figure.

Transportation
Name of Maker: Grandma Kay
Transportation - I found this great fabric by Michael Miller Fabrics. All the colors reminded me of comic book colors. I just cut the fabric apart and added sashing, batting and a back. What a fun quilt for a small boy, or maybe a girl? This quilt was donated to Dolphin House for the abused children.

1816 Quilt
Name of Maker: Great Great Grandmother McKay
1816 Quilt - Made in 1816 by a great great grandmother of mine. It is a large quilt - sesigned when the bed was the center of the home, so they were made large to come down to the floor and hide the trundles and/or pallet beds stored underneath. This quilt has faded in some areas but is remarkably well-preserved. I have workd with margo Drager of Reproductionfabrics.com in Bozeman. MT to find authentic reproduction fabrics for that time. The sashing is still bright green, but the small check was originally green and beige, but the colors leached out. The pinks and other colors are still bright. There is some fabric breakage on the fold lines, but still magnificent.
In the Gloaming
Name of Maker: same
In the Gloaming - All Bali batiks designed and pieced by Candace. In March 2004, Denver got hit with a 3-4 ft blizzard. I had started these blocks, but then finished it during the storm. I did not really realize what I had until I put it up on the rack and saw it from a distance. I quilted it on a Nolting longarm that I owned with a variegated thread and a free-hand flame stitch. It has a Hobbs wool batting and finishd size is 84" x 84". It was shown in the 2004 Capitol quilt Show in the Colorado State Capitol building. It also hung in the Lt. Governor's office in 2006.
