Roxie's quilt - My mother, Roxie, passed away this year at 88 years of age. Over the years she embroidered many pillowcases that she bought at the Five and Dime where she worked. I used the parts she worked on and strip pieced the connecting blocks. This is a way to showcase her work.

Energy in Motion - It took me quite a while because I satin stitched around everything, but I'm so proud of it now that it's done.

Star of David - Made for my friend and teacher, Rose Pere, a Maori Tahuna, who lives in New Zealand.

Veronica - Took a class by Karen Eckmeier on layered curves. Quilt named after Veronica Lake (movie star from long ago) who wore her hair draped over one eye.

Birds of a feather - This was my first quilt larger than a small wall hanging. It was so much fun to put a personality on each bird. The quilter did an awesome job and put feathers all around the border.

Nathan's Quilt - Baby Quilt for new grand nephew

Quilt for Xandar - This was a great collaboration. Alexandra picked the pattern and most of the colors. As I began to assemble it, I could see it needed something more. A designer at work suggested adding the orange.

bob's Ties #2 - One of 5 quilts made at the request of a dear friend and career mentor. Each quilt is for one of Bob's children, using the ties he wore to work everyday. I didn't want to make traditional (boring?) necktie quilts. Piece O' cake are my favorite designers, so . . .

VT logo block - I developed a paper-piecing pattern to make a single-color version of the Virginia Tech logo. You can download the pattern for free from my blog at http://blog.myspace.com/hokie_hope.

All Nature Sings - Sandy Klop retreat - Murphys, CA, using Sandy's Provence fabrics. I had never appliqued before so this was a teaching tool. I love the way my friend, Sally Bertlesman quilted it.

Starburst - I paperpieced this BOM from pattern published in Quilts with Style Magazine in 2006. I used green/blue/purple batiks with red for spice. Machine quilted on my Hinterberg frame.

Prarie Rose - Quilt measures 75"x75". It is all handquilted, 1/4" spacing, 10-12 stitches per inch, using echo quilting.

Fan's and Koi's - Very easy pattern to make.

My Quilt of Many Colors - This quilt contains over 3,500 different fabrics with no repeats. It is composed of 1 1/2", 2" and 2 1/2" squares.

Remembering Grandma - I drafted the blocks based on a picture of my grandmother with the last quilt she made, which was for my oldest son's wedding. Her blocks were 18", while I made mine 12". Like her quilt I set it without sashing or borders. Hers was hand quilted while mine is heavily free motion quilted on a domestic machine. It has won two blue ribbons, one red and a Viewer's Choice at local quilt shows. It makes me smile whenever I look at it and remember my Grandmother who instilled in me the love of creating things.

Stars in the night - Sampler blocks assembled by me
