Out of the box
Name of Maker: JoAnn F. Young
Out of the box - My first attempt at an original design using Ricky's book on my own with purchased fabric from the nearest Walmart and trying to understand the meaning of convergence. The parrots and bright colors lent themselves to my first out of the box quilt. I'm waiting for more practice and confidence before attempting free motion quilting.

scrappy spiderweb - Made from multi-colored square of 3 sizes, cut to form a spiderweb effect then layered, stitched leaving frayed edges then cut into 4 small squares then sewed back into large blocks, using mixed squares. Name of Maker: galynn

Susannah/Susannah Reversed
Name of Maker: Kristin Larkin Farwig
Susannah/Susannah Reversed - I saw a black and white drawing for this block in the book "The Perfect Patchwork Primer" by Beth Gutcheon, Penguin Books, 1973. I reversed every other block, but I kind of wished I hadn't now. The center of each block is the off white, on-point square. I made a few blocks in the early 70s, then didn't do anything with this again until the early 80s, when I finished all of the blocks and sewed them together. I still haven't finished it yet! Shame on me. I have decided I will tie it, which I've never done before. Can you tell I had absolutely no art background or knowledge of color?

My Godey's Lady's Design
Name of Maker: Kristin Larkin Farwig
My Godey's Lady's Design - I taught myself to quilt in the early to mid 1970s. A friend helped me draft this pattern from a black and white reproduction engraving published in "American Quilts, Quilting and Patchwork: the complete book of history and technique" by Adelaide Hectlinger, Stackpoole Books, 1974, An Early American Society Book. The only information given on this is Fig. 10, p. 77, Godey Design for Patchwork, originally featured in Godey's Lady's Book. Instructions were quite sparse. Size given is approximate. I made this quilt for a professor at Hollins College in Virginia in exchange for professional services.
