My Godey's Lady's Design - I taught myself to quilt in the early to mid 1970s. A friend helped me draft this pattern from a black and white reproduction engraving published in "American Quilts, Quilting and Patchwork: the complete book of history and technique" by Adelaide Hectlinger, Stackpoole Books, 1974, An Early American Society Book. The only information given on this is Fig. 10, p. 77, Godey Design for Patchwork, originally featured in Godey's Lady's Book. Instructions were quite sparse. Size given is approximate. I made this quilt for a professor at Hollins College in Virginia in exchange for professional services.
