Awards hanging - I needed something to show off my Bowling accomplishments. I ended up making one for everyone on my league, changing the ball color to match each person's ball.
Amanda's candycane - To teach my granddaughter to start quilting we chose ten pink fabrics and I cut 5 inch squares and arranged them in rows with a candycane pattern. She sewed the squares into strips and I sewed the strips together and then tested my new bernina and BSR to quilt it for her. She is thrilled.
Healing Rain - The Quilt was inspired by the song "Healing Rain". Most of the work was done by hand to create my own fabric using hand dyed ribbon, silks, organza, rayons, micro suede, threads, and fibers. The rain affect is achieved by using loose linen threads attached only at the top. The figure is 3-D which results in natural shadows.
The Juggling Act - Quilt was designed for a Quilt Guild's Fabric Challenge. The image reflects the everyday challenges of women juggling their life and responsibilities. The piece is primarily hand applique with couched pearl cotton for the "splashes and spillage". This image is 3-D using trapunto techniques.
Ode to Escher - I took a class with Karen Combs at the NC Quilt Symposium in Winston-Salem NC. I completed one of the RWB center blocks in the class and then went home and came up with this design. I love it. This is actually going to hang vertically and a friend put the binding on it for me! But I couldn't wait to post a picture.
Rainbows Don't Wait - This strip block is quilted as it's assembled. After the 6" blocks were made, the sashing is put on to hold the whole thing together.
Dazzling Geese - Wall hanging made of circular flying geese and ny beauty segments set against a strip pieced background. All circular components were drafted by me, and was inspired by the fabric.
Harmony In Ebony and Ivory - I made this with a piano in mind. I used black and ivory fabrics, along with sheet music fabric to make the top. The backing is one piece of black with small musical notes scatterd randomly all over and piano keys border either side, one larger than the other.
I have yet to finish this quilt, but I will be tying and hand quilting it to finish it. I will bind it with the sheet music fabric. It will also have a label on the back dedicating it to someone special both "instrumentally" and "musically" in both my daughters' lives.
