7 Santas and 100 Berries in the Border
Name of Maker: Nancy Allen
7 Santas and 100 Berries in the Border - This needle turn applique quilt is from an out of print book by Piece of Cake Designs. The quilt top took a full year to complete. The hand quilting took another 7 months. There really are 100 berries in the border!
Indian Orange Peel
Name of Maker: Sandra LaForte
Indian Orange Peel - Paper pieced using 125 fabrics, mostly batiks. Very challening to assemble, especiialy the border. The designer, Karen Stone, does not give as many tips in her book as I needed, but then, I have only been quilting 3 years. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, I thought this was an ll! I put 300 hours into this quilt from selecting fabrics, washing, ironing, starching, cutting, assembling color combos, machine stitching, tearing off paper patterns, assembling blocks and border and then quilting on my home machine. No wonder it took me two years!
White bouquet
Name of Maker: Geta Grama
White bouquet - miniature quilt; shadow trapunto on organza
My Little Antique
Name of Maker: Unknown
My Little Antique - I was inspired by Cindy Needham who turned antique linens into beautiful quilts. After watching her on The Quilt Show, I went out and bought this antique linen cutwork applique and decided to make a quilt. The quilting was my own design. I really love how it came out. I used Cindy's scribbling technique to "fill in" areas and make others pop out.

Hydrangeas in Bloom
Name of Maker: Jenny Burdette
Hydrangeas in Bloom - This was my initiation into quilting. I finished the top and did the initial quilting in the ditch. My Grandmother, who was in her late 90's at the time, came to live with my Mother and wanted things to quilt to keep her busy. She completed the quilting in the 'windows' of this quilt by hand which made this quilt especially dear to my heart.
Raggedy Hearts
Name of Maker: Jenny Burdette
Raggedy Hearts - I made this quilt for my step-daughter for her 21st birthday. She always curled up with a flannel quilt I made for her father whenever she would come to visit, so I thought she would like one of her own.
Flying Geese & Stars
Name of Maker: Ed Chamness
Flying Geese & Stars - Kim Einmo developed a ruler to create the "geese" which also form the star points using strips of the same size and using the "flat top" triangle design to create the triangle and the wings for easy matching and sewing. A great, fun class with the Miami Valley Quilters' Guild (Ohio).
