Indian Orange Peel

Indian Orange Peel - Paper pieced using 125 fabrics, mostly batiks. Very challening to assemble, especiialy the border. The designer, Karen Stone, does not give as many tips in her book as I needed, but then, I have only been quilting 3 years. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, I thought this was an ll! I put 300 hours into this quilt from selecting fabrics, washing, ironing, starching, cutting, assembling color combos, machine stitching, tearing off paper patterns, assembling blocks and border and then quilting on my home machine. No wonder it took me two years!

And worth every minute! I know the frustration and excitement and determination necessary to complete a long detailed project. But how thrilling! your quilt is beautiful now and will always be beautiful. Right now I have a complex quilt I made for my mom wrapped around me and am still marvelling at the fabric combos and it's 16 years later!
