Hideous Kinky
Name of Maker: Ruthann Zaroff
Hideous Kinky - "Hideous" refers to the completely awful fabric colors I started with -- a refugee from a paint factory explosion. "Kinky" refers to the fact that this unfortunate piece of fabric was completely off grain. I wanted to give it an "extreme makeover," and how better than to use Ricky's convergence method? The converged fabric was cut into the wavy and sun shapes and appliquéd to the background. I used variegated rayon thread for quilting and bound with a colorful batik.

Mystery Quilt
Name of Maker: Suzy
Mystery Quilt - I signed up for a mystery quilt class and I thought I would be making a block (as 1 only) a month. Little did know some months I had to make 6 or 7 but here is the result. I think I would like to try this one again but this time in Batiks and restrict my self to a certain number of colors now that I know what the final look will be.
Skeletons and Pirates
Name of Maker: Pat Helm
Skeletons and Pirates - Traditional 9 patch on a large scale. Each block is 18" square made for my grandson, Austin, for his 11th birthday. The center blocks are machine embroidered.
Mesa Vista
Name of Maker: Kathy Lawrence
Mesa Vista - My son, David, gave me a kidney in 2006. Thinking about how to thank him, I felt a quilt of his beloved New Mexico might be just the thing.

Fire Within
Name of Maker: Kathy Lawrence
Fire Within - I was on a trip and missed the first day of this class, which was how to pick your fabrics. I was totally at a loss as to what to do and wondered if I should go on. The teacher suggested I use the hand dyes I had used in another quilt. I ran back home and got them and they worked out perfectly.
Hanging in Space
Name of Maker: Kathy Lawrence
Hanging in Space - I took a class from Karen Combs at our Quilt Quild. She showed us how to make these cubes. This is the quilt I made from them. It was a wonderful class!
Name of Maker: JoAnn Camp
"Josie" - "Josie" is my granddaughter. When she first saw this quilt, she was very quiet, but when I asked her if she knew who it was, she nodded and said "It's me!"
Cheena Memorial
Name of Maker: Kathy Lawrence
Cheena Memorial - We had gotten our incredible dog, Cheena, from a pound as a baby just 3 years before. One day on their way to a hike in the mountains she died of a congenital heart problem in the backseat of the car. We were beside ourselves. Making this quilt helped me come to terms with her death.
Black and White Dazzle
Name of Maker: Kathy Lawrence
Black and White Dazzle - My best friend, Alice (not a quilter) begged me to take this quilting class with her, which started the next week. They needed another body to fill the class. So, completely unlike myself, both in type of quilt and speed of picking fabrics, I raced around the quilt store and bought everthing I needed in just 1/2 hour. I missed the first meeting so I had to call for directions. In the nexted three weeks of classes I finnished the quilt. A new record for me. My freind never did finish her quilt.

Canopy of Oaks
Name of Maker: Jane Aldoretta
Canopy of Oaks - This quilt was inspired by my teacher, Joan Colvin, at Art Quilt Tahoe. Her love of trees and nature, her way of teaching and her spirit will stay with me forever.
Ron's Rag Edge
Name of Maker: Jane Aldoretta
Ron's Rag Edge - This quilt has blue jean squares on the back and flannel on the front. I used a varigated jeans stitch thread that showed up very well against the blue jean fabric. This was a present for my brother to use when traveling in his 1967 camper van. It was very heavy!
