Mirkwood Hideous Kinky - "Hideous" refers to the completely awful fabric colors I started with -- a refugee from a paint factory explosion. "Kinky" refers to the fact that this unfortunate piece of fabric was completely off grain. I wanted to give it an "extreme makeover," and how better than to use Ricky's convergence method? The converged fabric was cut into the wavy and sun shapes and appliquéd to the background. I used variegated rayon thread for quilting and bound with a colorful batik.
