Purples & Greens
Name of Maker: MALCOLM L SPEED
Purples & Greens - This was a raffle quilt that helped raise funds for my church choir (The Voices of Praise / St. Alphonsus "ROCK" Church) to travel to St. Thomas, VI. The quilt is being presented to the winner of the raffle on this evening (12-04-07). I had a tremendous time choosing the fabrics and playing with the border layout and design. If you look carefully, you will see that the binding is pieced with most of the fabrics used in the quilt. I hope you enjoy.
Eve's Stars
Name of Maker: Cynthia Oliver
Eve's Stars - Nine scrappy 8 pointed stars on point alternating with neutral blocks.
Grandmother's Magnolia
Name of Maker: Maggie Strahan (mms61371)
Grandmother's Magnolia - My Grandmother was an oil painter and her speciality was magnolias. I took an image from one of her many paintings and drew it on a large sheet of paper. The drawing was then dissected in many pieces. I used freezer paper foundation piecing to construct this beautiful memory of my beloved Grandmother. She has been gone 17 years now, and everyday I still thank God for putting that beautiful woman in my life.
Christmas Express
Name of Maker: Wendy Held
Christmas Express - When I saw this advent calendar pattern, I knew I needed to make two of them. One for each of my children's families. The stack of packages is moved every day until Christmas. Each train car is a little pocket. I hope this will be a Christmas memory that my grandchildren will always treasure.

"Miss Olivia" - Ian Falconer is a childrens author who has become famous for his character Oliva a little pig who is a fashionista
Christmas Cardinal
Name of Maker: Robin Gold
Christmas Cardinal - My 1st completed quilt. I developed both the tree design and the cardinal design, both paper pieced, but used Mary's layout of blocks alternating trees and cardinals.
A Picture of Me
Name of Maker: Beth Schnellenberger
A Picture of Me - This small quilt is a self-portrait. It was made for a Quilt Art challenge.
Cartwheeling Claus
Name of Maker: Susan Cook
Cartwheeling Claus - Original paper-pieced block. Hat is 3D and should have a jingle bell on each point. Beads are used for the eyes and nose.
The Critic
Name of Maker: Laurie
The Critic - This quilt is in response to my inner critic- the one that stops me from experimenting and trying new things. I purposefully did things that would irk my critic- like leaving batting hanging out, there's threads hanging out. The backing is covered with typical critic remarks like- That doesnt belong, that's not right, why would you do that? Now that the critic has a face and a place on the wall instead of in my head, he's much easier to ignore.
Behind the African Mask
Name of Maker: Mary Nelson Zadrozny
Behind the African Mask - This quilt is about the traditional images of Africa at first glance, but then mask lifts up so artwork underneath reveals more about the problems Africans face.
Wedding Remembrance Quilt
Name of Maker: Mary Nelson Zadrozny
Wedding Remembrance Quilt - Romantic quilt design to celebrate a special anniversary or wedding. The verse says "If I know what love is, it is because of you" by Hermann Hesse.
Cowboy Bear
Name of Maker: Sue Buckingham
Cowboy Bear - Baby quilt to celebrate my boss' first child.
Primative Star
Name of Maker: Sue Buckingham
Primative Star - I started to make a 1,000 pyramid quilt and soon lost interest. I decided to take the pyramids already assembled and make something out of them. Adding the plaid background and black border with another plaid binding makes it look "country".
Kitty Sorbet
Name of Maker: Smittyd
Kitty Sorbet - I was asked to create a small quilt to donate for a closed auction to help the family of a fellow teacher/coach who passed away unexpectedly. I had just added this material to my stash, and decided to 'whip' this up in about 2 weeks. It's not as intricate a quilting job as I would have liked, but don't think anyone will complain. I used a large stippling to quilt it.
Dad's Quilt
Name of Maker: okiegirl97
Dad's Quilt - I made this quilt for Dad and the colors remind me of the suits he used to wear to work. In fact, the back is made of a soft plaid flannel & looks like the shirts he wears now that he's retired!
Homespun Heaven
Name of Maker: Irene Beattie
Homespun Heaven - These homespun fat quaters were bought in Houston 2003. Each nine inch block was quilted and then attached to the quilted sashing. This quilt as you go pattern was really easy to complete and my husband loves it.
Julia's quillow
Name of Maker: Irene Beattie
Julia's quillow - Made in Brushed Cotton for my new daughter-in-law as she is always feeling the cold. This was a joy to make and the pattern in the book was easy to follow.
For Momma & Daddy
Name of Maker: Martha Szescila
For Momma & Daddy - This quilt was made for my mother and father's 40th anniversary. I printed a copy of their wedding picture on the label sewn onto the back to the quilt. Many tears were shed in appreciation of all the work this took, but to me, it was well worth it. My parents have now been married for 56 years and the quilt, as well as their marriage, is doing well.
