Spencer Stars for R. B. - I used the Spencer Museum of Art fabric collection from Moda.It will become a gift to my father-in-law to honor the family's ties and loyaltyto the University of Kansas where the Spencer Museum is located. . This is my 3rd quilt, and the first machine quilting that I have done.
Oriental Curves - Attended a class at our local quilt shop showing the ease of using the templates by Elisa Wilson. So easy, so fun, bought the book and it was my first time to use Oriental fabrics.
Gentle Moments - A beautiful quilt to look at, made even better by beautiful quilting done by Pat Hildreth. The prairie points are just the right touch for this quilt
Land of the Free - Fell in love with this quilt as soon as I saw it. Made to go in my guest bedroom for my childhood bed that has just been refinished.
SJC Quillow - A quillow with snapshots of my daughters 3rd grade class throughout the year shaped into the letters of her school - St. Joseph's of Cupertino. Auctioned for a fundraising event it sold for $1200. Quillow was signed by all the 3rd graders which can be seen once the quilt is folded into the quillow
Stepping Stones - The floral motifs were inspired by Ottoman floral designs. I created this part of the design, then superimposed the stepping stone design. The stones were created as individual pieces then sewn onto the background.
Antigua Flora I & II - These pieces were inspired by the flora on the island of Antigua. I used my own hand-dyed fabrics to create the images as pages from a scrapbook. These are the first in a series on which I am currently working.
Great Grandma's Quilt - This quilt has over 2000 blocks, hand pieced and hand quilted. Made by my great grandmother for my grandma, who used it on her bed until she died.
Mali - I used fabric from Mali purchased from The Quilt Show store to make a Priority Mail Quilt for Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. The center applique is a map of Mali with the Niger River in gold metallic thread. Beautifully patterned yellow with orange, yellow, and black with orange fabrics surround the map. Varigated and metallic threads were used to outline and highlight the fabric. I am approximately $5 from raising $1000 for alzheimer's and this small quilt will help me reach my goal.
Beyond the Garden Gate - The background is is a collection of 2-inch blocks working together as pixels to form the beach landscape. The garden gate, made of bias tape, gives the piece added depth. The idea of being in a garden has such great appeal for me, but in this case, perhaps what lies beyond is the bigger draw.
