Flying Monkeys
Name of Maker: Nanette Herbst
Flying Monkeys - My quilt guild had a challenge where you were given a color, a feeling, and an embellishment to use on a quilt. My color was purple, my feeling was anger, and my embellishment was beads. The monkeys jackets have beading on them. I won second prize with this quilt.
Stars and Checks
Name of Maker: Nanette Herbst
Stars and Checks - This was one of the first quilts I ever made by machine. I made two of them. This one was for my daughter and the other was given to a girl from Belarus that we hosted for two summers. It is a fun quilt and I still love bright colored quilts
Carpe Dicem
Name of Maker: Nanette Herbst
Carpe Dicem - My friend Jackie taught me Stack and Whack on a weekend Quilt Show trip. Thank God she is a great long arm quilter and could quilt out the problems. All my blocks looked like Size D Bra Cups.
Red and White and Violet
Name of Maker: Nanette Herbst
Red and White and Violet - I have a very dear friend Violet who has been a quilt mentor to me. She is 89 years old. I saw a quilt she had done with this block and loved it. I had the same fabric she used but I was a little short so she gave me her leftover fabric. This quilt has been completely pieced by hand and is in the process of being hand quilted. I may be 89 by the time I get it finished. (I am 45). I set my blocks a little different from hers. I staggered mine because I thought it looked like picture frames on a wall.
Little Diamond Island
Name of Maker: Deborah Timby and the Friday Quilters
Little Diamond Island - A pieced design made by 8 people, using an enlarged photograph for patterns. The pinwheel border uses the technique from the book "Square Dance" by Martha Thompson.

Hot n' Spicey - I fell in love with the Cover Design of Lone Star Quilts & Beyond, and had to make my own version.
Out of this World

Out of this World - I made this in a class that focused on reverse applique. It was fun to try different fabrics and embellishments.
Feathered Stars

Feathered Stars - Made as a vehicle for hand quilting, this scrap red and green feathered star has been published three times in magazines and once in a book.
Hearts for Tori

Hearts for Tori - Fat quarters are stacked and then sliced into the pattern pieces. The "deck" is then schuffled and sewn back together. No matching of seams is required.
Girls at the Beach
Name of Maker: Deborah T.
Girls at the Beach - This beach quilt grew as I added the little girls from a Mary Cassatt painting and the women from a Picasso painting.

Northern Sparkler
Name of Maker: Jane Guild
Northern Sparkler - Original pattern calls for only 3 colors, I added a 4th color and extended the pattern into the borders to complete a secondary pattern. I won a 2nd place ribbon at our local county fair, in the wall hanging category.
Pebbles Under the Falling Leaves

Pebbles Under the Falling Leaves
Haley's Quilt
Name of Maker: DeeSkye
Haley's Quilt - Very bright and cheerful string quilt with appliqued hearts.
Autumn Winds
Name of Maker: Suzanne Hyland
Autumn Winds - The original pattern places leaves inside each square in horizontal and vertical rows--a bit too predictable for me. Driving down the roads of Kentucky in Autumn, leaves swirl behind and follow us home. This is my attempt to remember the memorable days we lived there.
Rosy Stars
Name of Maker: ntrquilter
Rosy Stars - This quilt was made for a raffle at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. It is made of of rose patterned cotton in a 60 degree six pointed star with a diamond inner border.
Beginners Luck
Name of Maker: Georjana Mauldin
Beginners Luck - This is my first quilt - corner stones seams don't match at points - seams aren't straight. I was going to make something for my husband, but I fell in love with Aunt Gracie fabrics. So it matches my sewing room - yellow and purple.
